Probably Shinji Mikami had too high expectations for the new franchise. And in principle, the game designer confirmed his famous status. The gameplay is in the spirit of Residents with slightly modified mechanics. I would especially highlight the change of scenery, locations and the time-tested survival element of hide and seek and saving ammo. There weren't enough mysteries and fear. The game is more adventure, but the scares are rather weak, which is critical for a horror game. During the entire game I literally felt a pleasant discomfort a couple of times. The unpleasant moments are the length of the story and 2 bars on the screen. The graphics are a little outdated, but over time you get used to it.

As a result, I can advise fans of Residents and lovers of bloody adventures to try it ou… Read full

I can grumble for quite a long time about the unrealized ideas in the game. Many horror moments here would be simply perfect, the plot could be much deeper and more thoughtful, and the game itself could be shorter by a third and not suffer from it. I can and will, although I realize that this is almost loving, because the project turned out good.

The gameplay, as for me, is a beautifully refined reincarnation of the Resident in interesting scenery that sometimes smacks of madness... which often smacks of the Cutter in the worst sense. Well, really, why hold on to the godless mines? We still need to look for more hacky ideas for the level. But there are still enough interesting moments in the game that distract from such troubles.

Unfortunately, it is difficult to call some of these moments p… Read full

Undoubtedly, the game is garbage. Excellent locations, wonderful graphics, cool opponents, a complex plot that you want to unravel, a leveling system and much more. I'll definitely go through it again. Reminds me of Resident Evil 4 in a kind of alliance with Silent Hill: Homecoming. The whole game is completely varied and does not get boring.

The Evil Within is a game that starts out as horror and ends up as action, and I loved it. If at the beginning we have to hide from every enemy and save the last cartridge for a chosen enemy, or “for ourselves,” then everything turns into a war against dishonesty. True, a revolver with a full clip still does not give a feeling of security, because in addition to mortal evil spirits in the game there are a lot of bosses, battles with which can be divided into two stages, this means salvation (escape) from them and then the actual battle with them. The Evil Within delivers a solid story, but leaving some things unsaid is probably for the best.

A game that knows how to keep you in suspense. If you are going to stupidly run and shoot, then this is not the case. There is a critical shortage of ammo; some bosses seem to have been taken from Dark Souls. It's scary in places. The plot is interesting, the gameplay is good, the graphics are pleasing to the eye. The Evil Within is a good example of high-quality survival horror. Not 10/10 due to some annoying moments and the game being a bit long

9.5

One of the best survival horror games of our time.

Incredibly atmospheric graphics reeking of antiquity, excellent sound, a plot in no way inferior to the story of Silent Hill 2, superbly laid out lore in the spirit of Alan Wake and excellent design with a greenish tint

Maybe the game is stifling in places, maybe it’s caricatured in some places, but what cannot be taken away from it is the style. She's really beautiful. All these locations, the monsters, the character of Castelvanos... I wouldn’t say that it’s very pleasant to play, but I would say that it’s really interesting to watch, which keeps you literally until the final credits. For fans of survival horror, this is a must-read; for everyone else, this is not necessary)

Surreal nonsense.

No, seriously. Literally.

The world of the game breaks down before our eyes, giving rise to images that are equally amazing and frightening.

The plot is not as good as it is intricate, precisely because of the complexity of the world around it.

The gameplay is tied both to a considerable number of stealth elements and to the physical destruction of monsters, which brings to mind Alone the dark.

The game turned out to be a good horror movie, capable, at times, of making you nervous and keeping you glued to the screen. But the story itself is not very compelling.
