The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the last chapter of the story, telling about the adventures of a witcher named Geralt. But contrary to expectations, the main character of the game was not the Witcher himself, but his “destination” - Ciri. Geralt acts as a storytelling tool. But more on that later.
I would like to talk about the beginning of this series. And so, the well-known Geralt of Rivia was presented to us by an incredibly talented Polish writer - Andrzej Sapkowski. From 1990 to 2013, he published 2 collections of short stories and 6 books. A television series was also filmed with Michal Zhebrovsky in the title role (who remembers? huh?). The book immediately found its readers and became one of the most popular fantasy books. And after that, 3 wonderful games were released from CD Project RED, the last of which we are talking about.
- Interesting fact, Sapkowski himself does not recognize the “game” Geralt and says that the Geralt he invented is unique and will always belong only to himself.
The story in the game is the strongest aspect of the game (unlike most new games). Following the story of Geralt and Ciri is so interesting, so exciting that dozens of hours of play are swallowed up unnoticed and you want more and more and more. Until your eyes begin to bleed and your fingers become bloody.
As I wrote above, Ciri is the main character of the game. It is in her that the Elder Blood flows, which gave her enormous strength (and at the same time a very difficult life), which the people of Aen Elle (People of the Alders) led by the elf Eredin are so eager to acquire. And I wouldn’t say that they are completely the “evil side” in the game. They need Ciri because during the “Conjugation of the Spheres” they were transported to another world in which they were forced to adapt and live. And to return, they need the power of the “Elder Blood” to move their people to their original place. So we got a villain with good intentions.
There are simply tons of additional tasks in the game, which are not inferior in content to the main story line. They will help the player learn more about the world of The Witcher and gain more insight into the characters. But be prepared. You will have to spend a lot of time completing them. How much, you ask? You will have to spend 25 hours to complete the storyline (skipping all the dialogues and not delving into what is happening), and you will have to allocate over 100 hours to completing both the plot and side quests (without skipping the dialogues) (I spent about 130 without taking into account the DLC). But if you have a lot of time and you want to explore every corner, see every monster, talk to all the people (I don’t want to call them NPCs), then get ready to fall out of reality for about 200 hours.
Graphics. She's simply amazing. Just look at the sunsets and sunrises while climbing a hill or mountain. Slack jaws and relaxation are guaranteed. Everything was done at the highest level. But the requirements for your computer will also not be small. And if you have a PC with a supply of hardware for a couple of years ahead, then there are high-resolution textures for you. At the same time, with optimization everything is in perfect order, and the updates increased the frame rate. I finished the playthroughs with an increase of 20 fps. This is very good.
There are no serious complaints about gameplay . Everything works great. In every battle you will give your all (of course, if you are not at the maximum level and have not come to crush low-level drowners), because this game does not forgive mistakes. I liked this approach because... I'm a fan of the Dark Souls series. Combine light and heavy blows, dodge enemy attacks, use Signs, upgrade your equipment and become the greatest witcher! There are also mutagens that enhance your abilities. You will be able to completely build “your own Geralt” that matches your play style. And one of the quibbles is Roach’s inappropriate behavior in early versions of the game. During the battle, she ran as if she were high between Geralt and the enemy, making it difficult to attack and defend. And in a peaceful hour, she either did not respond to the call, or stood 50 meters from Geralt and had to run to her himself. A filly with character, so that her...
Music. THIS IS A MASTERPIECE!!!! Marcin Przybyowicz made the atmosphere of the whole game 100/10.
I want to listen to this music again and again. My audio recordings were immediately replenished with his soundtracks. I liked the music so much that sometimes I didn’t fight. I just rolled around and enjoyed it. This is exactly how composers of other games should approach their music. I give a standing ovation!! For those who haven’t heard, start playing immediately or find music online.
Of course, it is necessary to mention the localization of. Michal Zhebrovsky gave his voice to Geralt. And he did it in such a way that the character literally came to life on our screens. All lines are spoken with the signature “Geralt” intonation, all pauses are observed. True, the Russian language is larger than English, and therefore the voiced part did not always fit in the time of the English one. Because of this, you can hear Geralt taking an exam with a speech therapist (begins to chatter quickly and efficiently). And this is the only problem. Yennefer, Triss, Ciri, Avallac'h and other characters are voiced to the fullest.
Summing up , I would like to say that this is the best game I have ever played. The dramatic plot touches to the core. You experience every moment as if it were happening to you. And you enjoy the funny scenes like a child. Each character is memorable and leaves its own imprint.
Let's also not forget about several endings. The ending of the game depends on your choice!
For everyone who hasn’t played yet, urgently buy and play. I would write more, but I feel sorry for the moderators . All the best!
