Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Desert Siege — 2009. Last year's events in Russia led to geopolitical instability, resulting in many conflicts around the world. The largest of them was the war between Ethiopia and Eritrea — in Ethiopia, power was seized by Colonel Tesfaye Wold, who decided to return access to the sea to Ethiopia and strangle the young Eritrean democracy.
Colonel Tesfaye Wold of the Ethiopian army was involved in illegal arms trading with Russian ultranationalists, who sold weapons at low prices to finance their coup the previous year. Colonel Wold, newly acquired the arsenal, overthrows the Ethiopian government and seizes the opportunity to retake Eritrea, which gained independence in 1993 from Ethiopia. The situation gains international interest when the conflict threatens shipping routes to the Red Sea.
