The hidden blade in Assassin's Creed: Shadows will be a little more useful than it has been in recent games in the franchise. Ubisoft decided to «go back to the roots» and add one of the mechanics that has not been used for 10 years.

As the developers confirmed, in the new part about Japan, players will again be able to fight with a hidden blade in close combat for the shinobi girl Naoe. The blade is a tanto attached to the hand, the blade of which can be thrown out at a right angle.

The last game with this mechanic was Assassin's Creed: Rogue, released in 2014. In Unity, which was released almost simultaneously with it, this function was removed. In subsequent games in the series, it was also abandoned, proposing to use the blade only for covert kills.

Let us remind you that Assassin's Creed: Shadows will be released on November 15 for the PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S platforms. The new game will take place in 16th century Japan, and the main characters will be the shinobi Naoe and the dark-skinned samurai Yasuke.

Recently, a CD Projekt RED artist wrote a critical post about «historical inaccuracies» in Assassin's Creed: Shadows. Later he had to apologize.
