Previously, the developers of Dragon Age: The Veilguard have already mentioned that the game will not have a Blood Magic specialization, hinting at some good reason. Now the scriptwriters have explained in more detail why they decided to get rid of this mechanic.

As BioWare lead writer and narrative designer Patrick Weekes said on social media, blood magic was removed for moral reasons:

Blood magic is unlikely because we've shifted it from a power boost to really being the key to a lot of nasty stuff we aren't interested in having heroes do… I think it can be ethically neutral if you only use your own blood, but after seeing it used as a required part of mind control and demon binding in Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition, it's just not a road we want the hero to walk right now.
— BioWare writer Patrick Weeks

However, he hinted that another mechanic might be coming that would allow risk-takers to sacrifice health to cast spells.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be released this year on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5.

Earlier it became known that companions in Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be able to romance each other. And before that, the developers talked about the possibility of enabling «immortality» for your character.
