The developers of Dragon Age: The Veilguard explained one of the reasons why the new part was delayed for 10 years. It turns out that half of this time was spent on just voicing all the in-game characters.
As executive creative director Ashley Barlow said in an interview with Gamesradar, the game required recording between 80,000 and 140,000 lines. The latter figure takes into account all the options for voicing the protagonist. For comparison, Dragon Age: Inquisition had half as much dialogue. This number of lines is mainly due to the scale of the game, which will have 700 characters.
The developers themselves noted that five years is not such a long time for such work. In addition, they wanted to «make sure everything is done right.»
Dragon Age: The Veilguard will be released in 2024 on PC, Xbox Series X/S and PS5. There is no more exact release date yet.
Earlier, the creators of Dragon Age: The Veilguard revealed that the game will still feature nudity and even breast customization. In addition, it will be possible to legally enable «immortality» in the game, but blood magic was cut for «ethical reasons.»
