Rocksteady employees told Eurogamer that they are laying off a lot of people because of the low profitability of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. The QA department has been cut in half, and one employee was fired while he was on maternity leave.
According to internal Rocksteady data, over the past month, only 15 people have remained in the testing department out of 33. The reason for this restructuring is reportedly the low efficiency of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. Other departments not related to quality control have also suffered. For example, one employee told journalists that he was fired right while on maternity leave.
At the same time, those who remain will still have to perform the tasks of developers and other Rocksteady employees, but in a greater volume. On condition of anonymity, employees said that senior management is already preparing for the fact that the quality of projects will decrease.
In August, Warner Bros. reported a significant 41% drop in its gaming division's revenue, blaming the failure of Suicide Squad for the results. In this regard, the company may allow other gaming studios to release projects based on their universes.
Earlier, there was a rumor that Warner Bros. was developing a game based on the Batman universe of Matt Reeves. However, this information was later denied by DC studio's eyewitness James Gunn.
