It appears that Ballistic Moon, the studio behind last year's Until Dawn Remake, has "effectively closed." This was reported by Insider Gaming, though no official statements have been made by the company's representatives yet.

According to the media, following mass layoffs in September 2024, the company reduced its staff by about 40 employees, leaving a small team to support the game after its release in October. However, by December, the remaining staff were also let go, leaving the studio with virtually no personnel.

Sources claim that only the founders and possibly a few employees remain. Support for Until Dawn Remake has ceased, with players reporting bugs that remain unaddressed.

Ballistic Moon tried to secure funding and a publisher for future projects. Sony even considered partially funding updates for Until Dawn Remake but ultimately did not provide the resources.

The studio was founded in 2020 by former members of Supermassive Games. Until Dawn Remake was their first, and if the information about Ballistic Moon holds true, their last released game.

Former employees generally speak positively about the team and development process but complain about unpaid overtime that lasted for weeks. Moreover, the layoffs were announced after a period of intense overtime work.

Ballistic Moon has yet to make an official closure announcement, and the studio still exists legally. If funding is secured, it might be revived, but for now, operations have completely halted.

As a reminder, the film Until Dawn is set to premiere on April 25, with creators promising viewers "constant fear" throughout the experience.
