The main feature of the new soulslike Lies of P is the lie system. In certain dialogues, Pinocchio is free to choose, which ultimately affects the adventure's ending. In this guide, we'll look at all three endings and also talk about the conditions that must be met for each.
There are a total of 14 defining moments in the game. In each, you will have to make a choice: tell the truth or lie. Surprisingly, it's the truthful answers that will lead you to a worse ending (which is strange). However, such decisions are far from the only factor. Closer to the end, you will have to decide whether to give your heart to Geppetto and what to do with Sophia.
Online, there's an opinion that it's better to lie during the first playthrough, as reaching the maximum level of this metric will unlock all the secret weapons. Moreover, you will still be able to get a more complete ending. In Lies of P, there is no unequivocally bad or good ending, but there is one that will give you the most information.
Below we list all the places where you will have to make a choice. As in Bloodborne, side quests will be given by unknown characters hidden behind the windows of houses. Look around carefully not to miss a new window with light.
You will be moving across the roofs. Before jumping down to the ground, inspect the right side of the house with the lit window using the scaffolding. Inside, a distressed woman will ask you to save her child.
Proceed through the level until you reach a corridor. On the right will be a large puppet rummaging through a pile of corpses. This is the place before the battle with the boss-police officer. Defeat the puppet and take the doll-child from among the bodies. Having taken the item, return to the crying woman and give her the daughter. Choose what to tell her:
After clearing the Venini factory, you will head to the Cathedral of Saint Franjelico. Pretty soon, you will reach an iron elevator, guarded by a huntress with a dog mask. She will ask if Pi is a guardsman:
When you finally reach the library of the cathedral, clear the area. Eventually, you'll find yourself on a balcony with two paths leading from it. One goes up the stairs, and the other to an elevator — that's where you need to go.
Take the elevator up and you'll immediately see Alidoro — a hunter with a dog's head:
Go right from the astrologer and talk to the man in the top hat. This is Gentleman Julian, who asks to return his late wife's belongings. Proceed along the pipes until you emerge into the city. At some point, you'll enter an area with chimney sweep puppets. Climb the stairs, cross the bridge, then descend. Near the wall, there will be a woman's corpse dressed in a black dress. As soon as you get close enough, Jemeni will point her out.
Take the belongings and return to Julian via the shortcut. Then choose what to say:
After defeating the Puppet King, talk to Antonia:
After speaking with Antonia, converse with Polendina near the fountain outside:
After defeating Champion Victor and speaking with Simon Manus:
Eugenia wants to know how Alidoro gloves.
During your journey, you will find an NPC named Belle, who will later move to the hotel. Defeat the Corrupted Parade Master and, after getting information from Antonia about the secret passage behind the portrait, talk to Belle. She wants you to find her partner. Move to Krat's central station. Go right, down the stairs, turn around, and enter the wagon. There's an infected there, but he won't attack.
Talk to the NPC to get a letter. Return to Belle:
After defeating the Brotherhood of the Black Rabbit at the Relic of Trismegistus arena, return to Krat Hotel and talk to Venini:
After Venini deciphers Alidoro's mysterious vessel, read it and talk to Eugenia:
After opening the last Trinity Sanctuary, find the astrologer, follow down in the room with two beams, and talk to Harlequin:
After defeating Laxasia, talk to Sophia:
After finding Geppetto in the prison cell:
After defeating Simon Manus, tell him about Sophia's fate:
The simplest and least informative ending, which does not depend on the amount of lies or truth. Defeat Simon Manus, then take the elevator down to the astrologer Under the Abyss. Talk to Geppetto and agree to his request to give up the heart. After all the cutscenes, do not start New Game+, but return to the hotel and visit Geppetto's office. A letter lies on the table, which you can read to get the achievement A Father's Tale. Also, interact with the piano to receive another reward Pianist of Krat.
This ending requires several additional actions. First, you must choose to tell the truth in all instances. Also, answer let her live in the dialogue with Sophia on the Ascension Bridge and tell Simon about it — I freed her from Arche Abbey. In the final dialogue with Geppetto, refuse to give up the heart.
If you did everything correctly, the real final boss — another puppet — will appear. After defeating it, you will be able to earn several achievements: Freedom from Puppet Strings, The First Puppet. You will also receive the secret weapon Proof of Humanity if you exchange the ergo of the first puppet with Hugo. This is necessary for the Collector of Special Weapons achievement. As in the previous ending, you can interact with the piano to receive the Pianist of Krat reward.
An ending that will require the most effort from you. But in return, you will see the most cutscenes and receive the maximum amount of final information.
In all dialogues, you must lie (this is a mandatory condition). In the conversation with Sophia on the Ascension Bridge, choose Give her peace. As in all other variants, defeat Simon Manus.
Before talking to Geppetto about the heart, go to the hotel. Listen to all the music records one after another, and then go up to the inventor's office. There should already be a portrait hanging, on which the very nose grows. If everything is done correctly, the nose will grow into the secret weapon Golden Lie.
Now you can return to Geppetto and refuse to give up the heart. Defeat the real last boss — the Nameless Puppet.
After the credits, visit the inventor's office in the hotel and read the letter to receive the Story of the Blue Butterfly achievement. All previously mentioned achievements, except for the letter from Geppetto, can also be claimed.
Officially, you need to play through the game three times to see all three endings. However, in practice, you can simplify the process by making a cloud save before talking to Geppetto. Since the choices in the Real Boy ending do not matter, you will be able to see at least two finals anyway.
