All Endings of The Quarry: How to Get the Good, Bad, and Secret Endings
The Quarry is a cinematic horror adventure from Supermassive Games and the creators of the famous Until Dawn. As in previous interactive movies, the player can save or lose any of the main characters. In this guide, we will detail the most important endings in The Quarry and ways to achieve them. Beware, spoilers!
Choices, Conversations, and QTEs. How to Survive in the Game
In The Quarry, most events depend solely on successfully performing QTEs and choosing the right path. Dialogues do not affect the actions of the characters and slightly embellish the relationships between them. Also, the game can have many of the most unusual incidents, however, when obtaining the best ending, the player may skip some scenes.
Such finals depend on the survival of specific characters, their deaths, and infections, so the overall mood displayed in the epilogue will almost always be the same. One of the important features is the search for evidence. In the last scene, two journalists in a podcast will study the items found by the player, which will allow to absolve the heroes of responsibility or, conversely, accuse them of crimes.
The open ending of The Quarry does not allow the observer to learn the further fate of all the counselors and hunters, so it remains off-screen. Below we not only highlight ways to unlock the endings but also discuss all possible ways characters can die.
How to Get the Best Ending
There are several choices that significantly do not affect the final outcome of the story. Despite this, we will try to rely on personal gaming experience and discuss the possible consequences of each action for all characters. As mentioned earlier, dialogues do not carry any significance for the survival of the counselors, however, we recommend communicating positively with everyone and not showing aggression. Also, to obtain the best ending in our story, the player needs to successfully complete all available QTE tasks.
The possible survival of the characters can be marked by negative consequences for their health. In addition to infection, some characters are prone to injuries and traumas, so we will specifically mention a possible safe outcome separately.
Important: not all decisions listed in the guide significantly affect the ending. Some of them can be changed, but still lead to the best finale. We have separately highlighted all important paths in red.
Below by chapters is listed the sequence of actions of the characters that will allow each participant to survive the current events:
- Helping Max (Prologue). After descending into the basement, Laura should help Max. This action is not mandatory, however, for strengthening their relationship, it is advisable for the girl to do so.
- Car Breakdown (Chapter 1). Jacob needs to break one of the car parts. Using the fuel line will slightly ease his way forward, and he won't have to look for the switch in the lake. Despite the simplified option, it's best to break the distributor cap, as this will grant access to evidence #3, and Jacob will be able to notice the missing tourist in the water.
- Opening the Door (Chapter 1). Abigail faces an optional choice — to help Emma break the door or refuse to enter the house for the belongings. If the girls enter, they will be able to find a toy that will be useful in one of the following episodes. Do not break the door to save Dylan's hand in Chapter 5.
- Fireworks (Chapter 2). Another non-mandatory choice. Emma and Jacob will go to the store in search of food and drinks for the upcoming party. In the back part of the building, the girl should ask the boy to unlock the door. Inside the locked room, the heroes will find a weapon and a safe code. Upon leaving the store, Emma will open the safe, where she finds shotgun shells and fireworks. Taking this item is not mandatory, however, we recommend taking it as the fireworks will help the girl escape from pursuers later.
- Helping Nick (Chapter 3). After a walk in the forest with Nick, the characters will be attacked by a werewolf. The girl should help the boy escape from the creature, not climb a tree, and hide in the bushes. This will allow the heroine to avoid bites and reach the other characters without hindrance.
- Jacob at the Lake (Chapter 3). As soon as the man hears Abigail's scream, with the distributor cap runner available, the player must choose — to run to help or dive into the lake. As mentioned earlier, Jacob needs to jump into the water, take the switch, and get out of the barbed wire to find the evidence. On the way to Abigail, the guy will get trapped. After helping the hunter, communicate with him friendly and do not throw dirt. The man will take out a vial of blood and pour it on Jacob's face. From this moment, the hero is almost not threatened and will be protected from werewolf bites.
- Shooting into the Bushes (Chapter 4). At the beginning of the episode, Ryan will notice some movement in the bushes and hear strange sounds. The player should not use the weapon, otherwise, the boy will kill Jacob. This is a key choice that needs to be made.
- Inspecting the Cabin (Chapter 4). After Jacob's escape, Emma will be completely alone on the island. We reach the treehouse via any path. Enter inside and immediately inspect the bag, otherwise, the werewolf will kill the girl. After the monster's attack, use the stun gun and take a photo on the phone. We can use the spray. After some time, we block the door and climb through the hatch to the attic. After the scene with Dylan, use the rope. Emma should slowly turn the handle without making extra noise and not speed up. This will allow the heroine to reach the shore via the rope without injuries.
- Handing over the shotgun (Chapter 4). It's not mandatory for Dylan to give the shotgun to Caitlin.
- Escape from the hunter (Chapter 5). Caitlin, Abigail, and Nick need to hide from the man, hold their breath, and quietly escape the cabin.
- Dylan in the radio room (Chapter 5). After the monster attacks, Ryan should not shoot at the ceiling and must use calm responses. Dylan's fate depends on the choice made in Chapter 1. If Emma and Abigail didn't open the cabin, then Ryan needs to go outside and try to distract the monster. After successfully starting the radio, the werewolf will run away into the forest. Otherwise, Caitlin, Abi, and Nick will hide in the open house on their own, and the creature won't notice them, so when connecting the wire, it will bite Dylan's hand. In this case, to avoid infection, Ryan must cut off the hero's hand with a chainsaw.
- Jacob in the trap (Chapter 6). Together with Emma, we run away from the werewolf. Dodge the attack to save the girl, and along the way, we fall into a trap. Try to pull out the leg. Jacob will be captured by the hunters anyway.
- Shooting at Nick (Chapter 6). Caitlin, Dylan, Abigail, Nick, and Ryan will meet Laura at the pool house. After all the dialogues, Abigail must shoot Nick with the weapon. Only then will the heroine stay alive.
- Emma and the hunters (Chapter 6). The girl will return to the campfire, where she finds one firework charge. Take the item and head into the forest. The heroine notices two hunters. Do not run away and wait until the men find Emma themselves. If attempting to escape and a werewolf attacks the girl instead of the hunters, definitely use the item on it to prevent infection.
- Escape (Chapter 7). In this episode, the main role will shift to Laura, who tells the other characters about escaping from prison. To unlock the best ending, the player must interact friendly with Travis, definitely inspect the brick on the left wall and use the spoon lying by the window on it. In the following scene, the heroine will go to inspect the police station. In the further third room on the second floor, Laura must take the syringe from the cabinet, and then hide it behind the brick in the cell. When the girl pretends to be sick, do not touch Travis's gun and use the syringe to knock out the sheriff. This outcome will allow the characters to survive, as the man won't be angry with the heroine and will join her in the fight against the werewolf.
- Jacob in the cage (Chapter 8). Ryan and Laura will reach the red room, where they notice Jacob. First, stop the girl, otherwise, she will shoot Nick in the form of a werewolf. After that, Ryan will have to successfully complete the puzzle with levers: activate lever 1 and 2, continue and use handles 2 and 3.
- The Hackett's House (Chapter 9). Laura and Ryan will find themselves in great danger. If the QTE is successfully completed, the girl will kill Constance. Otherwise, she will survive, but there will be no negative consequences for the heroine. Ryan should not pull out the knife to use it for defense later. Hide from Bobby in the closet and barricade the door. The man will catch up with Ryan anyway, so at the end of the episode, use the knife and stab it into the hunter. Agree with Laura and allow her to bite the hero. This will save his life. At the end of the episode, both characters will meet Chris in the form of a werewolf. Ryan must shoot the monster, and Travis will not kill Laura, as the girl used the syringe in the cell.
- The Junkyard (Chapter 9). Caitlin and Dylan will head to the junkyard in search of parts. After inspecting the crane, it is necessary to warn the girl and lift the car up. Use the horn to distract the werewolf and after completing the QTE, use the torch to drive the enemy away.
- The Basement (Chapter 9). Abigail and Emma must pick up the silver bullet from the floor near the fuse box.
- The Island (Chapter 10). Max should not swim across the lake, otherwise, he will die at the dock.
- The House (Chapter 10). While escaping from the werewolf, Caitlin will have to use the beam, and then go towards Abigail's scream and pick up the silver bullet. After facing the monster face to face, the girl must shoot the enemy.
- The Car and the Woods (Chapter 10). Travis, Ryan, and Laura will go into the woods in search of the White Wolf — Silas. Successfully complete the available QTEs in the car and pull the lever to save all heroes. In the woods, the girl must shoot the werewolf without hesitation.
With such a sequence of actions, all the main characters will remain alive, avoiding infection and injuries. In this ending, only Travis from the Hackett family will survive. If the player has developed a dislike for the officer, then Laura can shoot him in the final scene. To do this, refuse to kill the monster the first time and successfully press the button that appears on the screen. In the epilogue, two podcast hosts will delve into the evidence found by the player. After collecting all ten items, there will be a small hint that the police will pardon the main heroes.
How to Get the Worst Ending
In this case, the gameplay will not change significantly, but the player will have to make choices with negative consequences themselves. With such a playthrough, the duration of the game will be noticeably shorter, as many scenes will not be shown to the observer afterward. As the worst ending, we suggest a variation in which all main characters die, and some villains remain alive. Below is the sequence of actions to unlock such a finale:
- Jacob's Death (Chapter 3). Retrieve the switch from the car in Chapter 1. When reaching the lake with Emma, the hero needs to dive into the water, grab the car part, and not try to swim out. In this case, the man will drown.
- Emma's Death (Chapter 4). The girl will reach the treehouse. Inside the building, it is necessary to immediately open the hatch. A werewolf will jump out from the upper floor and tear the heroine's body apart.
- Abigail's Death (Chapter 6). The characters will reach the pool house. Nick will try to attack the girl. Abigail should not shoot the guy, and the werewolf will instantly kill her.
- Preparing for Laura's Death (Chapter 7). The girl should use the gun when trying to escape. The police officer will survive but will be angry at the heroine.
- Nick's Death (Chapter 8). Laura and Ryan will reach the room with the red light, where they notice one werewolf and Jacob in different cages. The guy should not stop the girl. The heroine will shoot Nick, thinking that he is Chris in the form of a monster.
- Dylan's Death (Chapter 9). After inspecting the crane, the man will climb into the cabin. The hero should warn Caitlin and use the horn. After the creature's attack, the hero will grab a torch. Do not perform the QTE to witness the character's death.
- Ryan's Death (Chapter 9). The man should refuse Laura's offer and kill Chris. After this action, the hero will bleed out and fall dead to the floor.
- Laura's Death (Chapter 9). Travis will be angry at the heroine and kill her after Chris's death.
- Max's Death (Chapter 10). The hero will wake up on the island. After Chris's death, the curse will be lifted from him. The guy should swim across the lake to die from the werewolf's paws.
- Caitlin's Death (Chapter 10). The girl can perform any actions. It is necessary to fail all QTEs and not shoot Caleb.
Also, in this finale, one can try to preserve the life of all the Hacketts. Kaylee will die in any case, and Chris's death will allow the other family members to survive. In confrontations with the Hacketts, each character should fail the QTEs. For Bobby to survive, Ryan needs to immediately pull out the knife. Laura should not snatch the weapon from Constance and attack Jedediah. This will save the elder members of the Hackett family.
How to Unlock the Secret Ending
There are no secret endings in the game per se, as each ending is based on the current statuses of the characters at the end of the game: dead, infected, or survived. Depending on various events and player actions, additional scenes may be unlocked. Below are some scenes that occur much less frequently for players:
- Emma and Jacob's Joint Ending. Emma got infected on the island, and Jacob escaped from the Hacketts' house. In this ending, the characters can discuss their relationship, part ways peacefully, or argue. In any case, Emma will talk about the impossibility of further coexistence together, so the characters will meet the dawn, but their reunion will not happen. If Jacob does not find the bracelet in Chapter 1 and becomes infected, he will turn into a werewolf and kill his beloved. Otherwise, Emma will pick up the silver ornament and defend herself from the monster's attack.
- Travis and Laura Kill Each Other. The girl grabbed the pistol from the officer in Chapter 7, and Ryan did not agree to the heroine's proposal about the bite and did not kill Chris. Laura will not return to human form and will decapitate Travis, but the sheriff will manage to stab the girl with a shard of a silver mirror.
- Travis Takes Laura to the Basement. The girl did not shoot the sheriff, and Ryan did not accept the heroine's proposal about the bite and killed Chris. Laura failed to grab the shotgun, so Travis led the heroine to the room with red light and put her in a cage. In this case, the podcast will not mention the girl.
- Laura and Max's Joint Ending. The heroine took the pistol from the sheriff, and Ryan did not accept the heroine's proposal about the bite and shot Chris. Laura grabbed the weapon and shot Travis. The girl will run away from the Hacketts' house and reach Max. Both characters will survive and escape from the island.
- Death of Travis, Laura, Ryan, and Silas in a Car Accident. All QTEs must be failed. Laura did not manage to dodge the blow to the glass, took cover, and did not pull the lever. If the girl manages to reach for the weapon, there will be a chance to kill the werewolf, however, all characters will still die.
- Dylan Infected. In this case, the hero can protect Caitlin at the car with his body or survive in the final battle in the house.
- Caitlin and Dylan Defended Themselves. If in Chapter 1 Abigail found the toy and left it in the house, then Caitlin can grab the item and throw it into the freezer. In this case, the werewolf will jump inside the cabin. Caleb will die if Silas is dead. Otherwise, the character will survive thanks to supernatural power.
Below we will discuss the epilogue in more detail and indicate all possible death scenarios for the characters.
How to Infect All Characters
In the game, you can infect all the counselors to unlock a unique achievement and ending.
How to Unlock Unique Epilogues. What Determines the Final Credits
The final credits are displayed against the background of a computer with an article open on it.
