In the game Resident Evil 4, there are numerous collectible items. The wind-up keepers are a new feature that was not present in the original 2005 game. As a reward for finding them all, you will receive a perfect knife with endless capabilities. In this guide, you will learn the locations of all 16 wind-up keepers.
There are a total of 16 figurines in the game — one for each chapter. You can check your progress in the menu, under the Results tab. If you finished the game without collecting the entire set, you can start a New Game +, and all the dolls you found will remain with you. As you approach, the wind-up keepers will start to make a creaking noise, indicating that you are close enough. The figurine can be destroyed with a shot or a knife hit. You will return to many locations multiple times, so you will have several chances to find them all.
The first doll will be located on the destroyed roof of one of the village buildings in the Lake Settlement. You can enter the house through a window.
Note that you will receive the note about the wind-up keepers later in the next chapter, so you might easily miss this collectible item. However, you will return here later — there will be an opportunity to get the toy even in the fourth chapter.
After leaving the factory and dealing with the enemies in the valley, open the massive gates and walk past the yellow barrel, then turn left. There is a small building located there, in the corner of which stands the figurine. Here, on the table, you will also find a note that talks about the wind-up keepers.
Make your way to the Quarry and go forward. You will reach the merchant — there is also an elevator here that will take you to the first shooting range. Jump down from the ladder to the left of the merchant. Walk along the dock to the right and to the dead-end. The doll will be on the crates.
Return to the Lake Settlement, where you could find the first wind-up keeper. Since you will have a key with the cult symbol in your inventory, you will be able to unlock the locked grate next to the roadside shrine.
Use the key on the door with the cult emblem and enter the room on the right. Find the only staircase here and go upstairs. In the far part of the small location behind the wooden fence stands the wind-up keeper.
From the square, head south to the nearest building. Climb to the second floor and pull the lever hidden behind a painting in the only room to open a secret passage. There will be many useful consumables in the attic and another doll.
When you reach the quarry, pay attention to the large bonfire on the opposite side. The figurine is located right in front of it.
After you find and use the dungeon key, you will climb into a room with shelves. The wind-up keeper is on one of the top shelves.
The figurine is hidden in the northwest tower. You can get to it during the fight with El Gigante or after you lower the story gates by defeating him.
Go down the stairs and walk along the left side of the living hedge that forms a maze. The doll is hidden under the stairs behind wooden panels.
In this location, opposite the merchant's room, there will be a grate. The wind-up keeper will be peeking out from under the ceiling.
After stopping the first minecart, climb up the ladder and enter the metal building. The figurine is located above one of the doors.
Use the cable car located near the merchant. It will take you to the clock tower. The doll will be standing on wooden crates in the northwest part.
Reach the open location where there are many red containers. The figurine will be waiting for you under the trailer of a red truck.
You'll need the generator that lights up the campsite and the surrounding area.
After the cutscene in the amber storage, exit through the iron automatic doors and immediately turn right. The doll will be standing on one of the lockers.
This is a large building, with each room containing black bags hanging from the ceiling. Following the treasure marker on the map, you will enter a small room where there is a chest on the table. The doll is hiding on the beams above.
After the fight with Saddler, a two-minute timer will start. The last wind-up keeper will be in the same room, to the right, behind the green elevator.
