It's been over ten years since Sony Pictures tapped Andy Muschietti to direct an adaptation of Shadow of the Colossus, but the project has been silent since then. Recently, the director commented on the current status of the film.

According to him, the time to make the movie has come.

I'm not a big gamer, but Shadow of the Colossus seems to me a masterpiece and I played it several times. The movie has been in development for 10 years and now the possibility of making it opens up. It's not an abandoned project. There are different versions of the film and obviously I want them to give me 200 million, but this is another factor to take into account. I love that movie, there's a script that I really like, but there are factors that have to do not with your hobby and desire to make it, but with how popular an intellectual property like this is.
— Andy Muschietti

To recap, Shadow of the Colossus was released in 2005 on the PS2 and received predominantly high ratings. In 2018, a remake was released.

The game tells the story of a brave young man named Wander, who must save a girl's soul. To do so, he must defeat powerful colossi, each with its own weak spots.
