Director Andy Muschietti recently announced that the series It: Welcome to Derry will consist of three seasons, each serving as a prequel to the original story about the clown Pennywise.
The events of each season will unfold in different time periods:
According to him, there is a specific reason why each subsequent season will take a step back in time.
The first season is set to premiere this year on HBO, featuring nine episodes. Bill Skarsgard, who portrayed Pennywise in the 2017 and 2019 films, will reprise his role. The series will also star actors such as Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, Taylour Paige, and James Remar.
The exact premiere date has not been announced yet.
As a reminder, Andy Muschietti recently stated that he still plans to make a film based on Shadow of the Colossus, which hasn't been heard of for 10 years.
