Deus Ex and Unreal Tournament moved to Unreal Engine 5
A craftsman from the YouTube channel DXU24 shared a new video in which he demonstrated the work of the classic Deus Ex and Unreal Tournament on the Unreal Engine 5. This was achieved using the new version of the Surreal 98 client.
As the modder himself writes, his project is not a remake. The tool only allows you to run games on UE 5 that run on the first version of the engine. In addition, the picture is improved using ray tracing, redesigned lighting and the illusion of three-dimensionality for 2D textures (Parallax Occlusion Mapping technology).
You can evaluate the result of the work in the video below (time code 14:58). According to the author, he did not record different footage for comparison and did not edit the video: the game was running simultaneously on the first and fifth versions of the Unreal Engine.
In the future, the author plans to add support for Unreal Gold and Rune.
