Valve's service has seen the full launch of Stormgate — a new real-time strategy game from former Blizzard developers. Formally, the game has been available since the end of July, but it only became free this week.
Stormgate is developed by Frost Giant, a studio where former authors of WarCraft 3 and StarCraft 2 work. Visually, the game also resembles these two legendary projects: it's a mix of science fiction and fantasy, where humans fight against alien angels and demons.
Currently, Stormgate is in early access. The current version includes cooperative missions for 3 players, ranked and custom matches. The full release will not happen for at least another year.
At the time of writing, the strategy game has 2900 reviews, but only 60% are positive. Gamers criticize the unsuccessful visual style and setting, stating that the game is several levels below StarCraft 2. It should be noted that the developers promise to improve the project based on user feedback.
