Troy Baker Shares How Alcohol Helped Him Embrace the Role of Indiana Jones
On December 9, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, an adventure game about the iconic archaeologist and fedora enthusiast, is set to release. The legendary character is voiced by Troy Baker, known for his roles as Joel in The Last of Us and Higgs in Death Stranding. Despite his extensive experience, Baker initially struggled to connect with the character.
Baker revealed that he rewatched all the original films and immersed himself in John Williams' iconic soundtrack, but these efforts failed to help him fully understand the role. The breakthrough came unexpectedly—after a wild night involving heavy drinking and a bar eviction.
The following week, Baker returned to the studio with newfound confidence. «And that's when I realized Indiana Jones doesn't wake up every morning reminding himself he's Indiana Jones. He's just making it through his day,» the actor explained.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is now available for pre-load on PC and Xbox Series X/S. The developers recently released the launch trailer.
