Report: Sony Postpones Release of Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse

Deadline has published a report detailing the financial performance of recent movie premieres. Within the article, it was revealed that Sony has rescheduled the release of the animated film Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.

The movie, centered on Miles Morales, was originally set to debut in 2025, but the company has decided to delay the premiere. Previously, journalist and insider Jeff Sneider speculated that the film might not arrive until 2027.

Sony is placing particular focus on the Spider-Man franchise, especially after its other Marvel-based projects have faltered. The recent Kraven the Hunter was met with scathing reviews and grossed a meager $11 million in its opening weekend. According to Deadline, this is the lowest opening weekend for any Marvel-licensed film to date.

The second animated installment, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, premiered in 2023.
