AMD Announces «World's Best Gaming CPU»: Ryzen 9 9950X3D
At CES 2025, AMD announced the new flagship Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor, which it dubbed the world's best for gamers and content creators.
The 9950X3D features 16 Zen 5 cores (32 threads), a base clock speed of 4.3 GHz (up to 5.7 GHz boost), and 144MB of cache. Its TDP (Thermal Design Power) is 170W. According to AMD, in games running at 1080p, this processor is 8% faster than the previous model (7950X3D) and 20% faster than the flagship Intel Core Ultra 9 285K. Thanks to the Zen 5 architecture, it will provide a significant performance boost in Corona, Blender, Cinebench, Adobe Photoshop, and other content creation applications.
AMD also unveiled the Ryzen 9 9900X3D model. It features 12 Zen 5 cores (24 threads), a base clock speed of 4.4 GHz (up to 5.5 GHz boost), and 140MB of cache. Its TDP is 120W.
Pricing for the processors has not been revealed. Both are set to be released in March 2025.
