Complete Walkthrough of Nobody Wants to Die: All Puzzles and Investigations
Nobody Wants to Die is an intriguing psychological thriller with a detective investigation. To successfully complete the game, you need to uncover all the crimes, solve puzzles, and actively interact with game characters through dialogues. In this guide, we have described a complete walkthrough, noting important choices, the location of clues, puzzle solutions, and rare achievements.
Talk to the girl, then examine the interactive items — the gun, the newspaper, the radio. After finishing the examination, the police commissioner will contact you. After the dialogue, you can open the car door.
Achievement Restless Hands — Examine all items in the car before opening the door. There are seven interactive items in total.
Times Square
Looking out of the car, Sarah will contact you. Mark different buildings to learn more about them. You need to find the post office, which is located to the left of the girl's hologram. If you mention to Sarah in the dialogue that old classic movies are shown in this place, new dialogue branches will open in the future.
While standing in line, you can honk or be patient. You will also be offered whiskey — these choices will not affect the plot. Park by pressing the button to the left of the steering wheel. Pick up the capsule from the post station and return to the car to examine the package. During the dialogue, Sarah will ask why this case was not assigned to someone officially. The answer will affect the plot but will not have a global impact. If you examined the girl's hologram in the hat and the building where the bar used to be before going to the post office, two additional questions will appear. After examining all the information about the case, you can end the dialogue.
Green Tower
Enter through the main door. Players will be told about the hint mode, which is activated by pressing Caps Lock. Enter the room and look around. To the left of the stairs is a saddle, to the right is an engine. Approach the corpse and photograph the face. Then the reconstructor will open, which needs to be activated. You need to fill the bar from bottom to top by pressing LMB and/or RMB, depending on the pattern.
A timeline will appear, with the required interval highlighted in yellow. To move along it, press Q or E. It is not necessary to hit it exactly; the slider can snap into place if you are close enough to the required time. After correctly setting the reconstructor, a yellow spherical area will appear containing an interactive item. In this case, it is Green's head. Hold LMB to analyze the found clue. After the dialogue, shift the timeline and examine the right part of the body. Then you will need to examine the clue on the tree.
A new tool will open — the X-ray. After selecting it, hold RMB to keep it active. You need to follow the yellow wires in the floor until you reach the red panel, which is located near Green's body. Before examining the panel, turn off the X-ray and look around for additional knowledge. On the second floor, you can find a photograph, a secret dossier, a fragrance stand, and a locked door that will open at the end of the mission. Some of the information found will help in the investigation, reveal the game world, and also allow you to gain Sarah's support if you always tell her the truth.
Achievement Scent of Mystery — In Green's tower, go up to the second floor and approach the showcase with filled glass jars. A dialogue will begin and Sarah will ask you to describe the smell of chocolate. To get the achievement, simply answer the questions, choosing any answers.
After exploring the room, return to the panel on the first floor and perform the reconstruction. Next, you need to examine the tree with the symbol and numbers. The new clue is behind the tree, on the glass floor. After reconstructing the event, a clue will reveal that the victim was beaten. A trigger will activate and the fuses will blow, rolling the event back to the beginning. Sarah will restore the electricity, after which you will need to find the floating item (a pocket watch) near Green. After reading the inscription on the case, open it to mark the found photograph.
The next clue will be on the railing on the second floor, from where Green was pushed. After examining the entire environment, the ultraviolet light will open, which will point to the bloody trail from the victim. There will be several places for reconstruction to piece together the whole picture of what happened. The last active point will be the place near the transformer in the floor. A cutscene will begin and the detective will pick up a secret item. Before leaving the room and finishing the mission, you need to rewind the reconstructor to the right position, to get the good ending. You can also go up to the second floor to the stand with jars and use the scanner to unlock the door. Your exploration time is not limited, and any new information can be useful.
James' Apartment
After exiting the elevator, go higher and head to the right wing. Near the passage, there will be a black banner with a red eye in the center. James' room (173) is on the right at the end of the corridor. At the entrance, Hestia will greet you, with whom you can interact. For example, the first time she will play a message from the commissioner, and you will receive the achievement Old Bastard.
Explore the rooms and examine the paintings, then enter the bathroom. Starting the decontamination chamber will cause the neighbor to start complaining, followed by a verbal fight. To win the fight, choose the second option three times. For this, you will receive the achievement Game.
Return to the hall and move the sofa. Activating the trigger on the floor will start a mini-game where you need to correctly place the clues to progress further. During the dialogue with Sarah, ask for help, remaining calm during difficult questions. If everything is done correctly, the We're in the same boat option will open, unlocking additional dialogue options in the future.
In the mini-game, you need to correctly place the clues by selecting from the left column and placing them on the question mark. In case of an error, a cross will appear, which you can click with RMB to unbind. The order is as follows:
- Sarah's Doubts — Beating;
- What Happened Here — Wound;
- Potential Criminal and Motive — Memorable Watch;
- Heartfelt Farewell — Green's Diary;
- Cause of Death — Dead Ichorit;
- Final Death — Toxicology Report;
- Final Stretch — Bottle.
You will need to send this bottle to Sarah through the post station. The results of the examination can be viewed on the computer, and immediately after that, the Icarus airship, on which the suspect is located, will fall. Go down the stairs and move through the linear corridor until you enter the airship.
Icarus Bar
There will be a total of 6 situations here that can be restored in any order. After examining three bodies, the reconstruction will start. Find the floating safe and start the investigation. To the left of the bar counter will be the body of a man in a red suit. Examine the body and start the reconstruction. First, you need to examine the beam that pierced the body, then the white tubes on the floor, and finally the token on the neck.
A clue will reveal that there was a police agent in the bar. At the next mark, you need to examine the gunshot wounds on the officer's side, then study the bloody tracks on the floor. The ultraviolet lamp will be unlocked, which will help trace the start of the shootout. Climb into the lodge, photograph the head, bullet holes, and the suitcase nearby. Use the X-ray and track the bullet trajectories to the bar counter. Return to the lodge, scan the sofa, and activate the reconstructor to open the locked case.
The second location is above the stage, accessible via the stairs. First, examine the bloody trail behind the bar counter, and using ultraviolet light, reach the shooting point. The X-ray will help trace the bullet marks to the stairs. Photograph the person's head and the gun, then start the reconstruction. At the next mark, investigate the blood puddle to the right of the corpse. Then examine the gun. This is all the necessary information here.
The third restoration point will start on the stage, at the burned corpse. After examining the corpse, use the X-ray to inspect the broken ribs. Further examination will lead you to the lodge to the right of the stage, where three people are located. Examine them to recognize Martin Roy, the stadium owner, and the hidden ichorit. Also, inspect the sofa, where Jane Salma's scarf is located. Rewind time again to scan the serial number on the unknown person's hand. At the last point, you can notice the document that all three were discussing.
Say that the traces lead to explosives, return to the bar counter, and pick up the shell casing from the floor. Determine the caliber and start the reconstruction. Since you previously obtained all the necessary information about the surroundings, you just need to observe the development of events. At the next mark, investigate the bloody trail and, using ultraviolet light, reach the corpse with a knife in the head. Additional information will be revealed, and you will learn that Kovalev was wrapped in dynamite. Examine a couple of sticks, following his movements.
Later, you need to turn on the ultraviolet lamp again to track the bartender's traces. Mark Kovalev with dynamite, who hid behind the counter, then the bullet marks. At the end, a safe will open, containing a plot item and whiskey (needed for the achievement).
Then a stranger will contact you. Go to the indicated corpse and examine it. The stranger will suggest shooting. You can either refuse three times or shoot at any of these questions. For a good ending, you need to shoot.
Streets
Sitting in the car and thinking about the situation, you can choose any answers, they do not affect the plot. Look around outside and return to the car. Examine everything inside, then take the bottle of alcohol from the passenger seat. Choose whiskey and confirm the desire to drink it to get the achievement Old Fashioned.
The detective will call Sarah, and a long dialogue will begin. Most choices will not affect the plot but can open additional dialogue branches in the future. It is important to answer that you believe in the afterlife. If you drink alcohol during an attack, you can further distract the police's attention. Continue the conversation with Sarah and always tell the truth to improve your relationship with her.
Walking down the corridor, you reach the elevator where there is another corpse. Photograph the face and the rose, then pull the lever. Additionally, you will need to press the button to continue descending. Once in the new room, photograph the three corpses to the right of the entrance and start the reconstruction. Examine the chandelier mount, then the blood near the corpse.
Moving further, examine the gun. To determine the caliber, you need to look behind the cylinder, above the hammer. Using the X-ray, you will see a glass barrier and another corpse nearby. Examining it with the X-ray, you can notice broken bones. The ultraviolet lamp will help determine its starting point, where the invitation is also located.
The next clue will be a broken bottle, the shards of which are on the floor near the sofa. Next, you need to find a clue behind the sofa using ultraviolet. The last clue will be a gunshot wound to the head, which will lead to the location of the killer.
The power will trip from so many activities, which can be restored in the panel to the left of the entrance. It is easy to spot in the dark as it will be sparking. Restoring the power will activate the mechanism in the center, which will open an additional area for investigation.
Examine the empty clip near the found silhouette. Then photograph the head and ichorite on the left wrist. Also, photograph the woman — the head, the wound on the back, and the blood trail to the right of the leg. Taking the X-ray, you can examine the tied body and investigate the ichorite in the head to establish the identity. Also, examine the punctured lungs to reconstruct the sequence of events.
Not far from the bed will be the shot-off head of a statue, which can be used to find the shooter's initial position. The next clue will be blood on the bed, which, using ultraviolet, will lead to the dead girl on the floor. The next action is to find the knife by the steps and examine the dried blood on it.
Next, recreate the fight scene, and use the X-ray to check where the shooter hit when defending against the woman with the knife. Another new clue will be the bullet marks in the wall. The next task Where did Green hide the surveillance center? will appear. From the holograms on the tables, follow the wires using the X-ray. Two small devices are located in the frames in the center of the room, and the secret mechanism is in the head of the statue on the dresser.
Descending, examine the information about the bodies, the glove on the railing, and check the surveillance camera recordings. Learning the truth, you can return to the surface. At the safe, you will be given the option to leave the door open or close the passage. For a good ending, you need to close it.
Slums
Time is not limited, but you need to find Sara's location. Examine the green poles, then the dish to land nearby. Upon reaching the antenna, take out the X-ray and follow the wires in the ground, which will lead to the transformer and Sara's house.
Proceed further until a shootout begins. Depending on your past decisions, new lines of dialogue may open. Regardless of the answer, do not shoot the opponent.
Old Museum
Follow Sara to learn her story and watch the puppet show. After this, a door to the bedroom will open, and you can explore the entire location.
- In the observation post, note the separate surveillance monitor;
- In the bedroom, take the pills and learn more about Sara and her motives;
- In the room behind the bedroom, learn about Sara's family and Judge Tsypa. When leaving, turn off the lamp. This is needed for a secret achievement;
- Three spotlights are scattered around the location, shining on a drawing of a rooster. You need to turn on the two that only shine on the silhouette and turn off the one directed at the shaded area.
If everything is done correctly, a secret door will open near the spotlight. Climbing the stairs, you can find a metal rooster figurine.
Now you can return to Sara and discuss all the found information. If something is not found, part of the dialogue will be locked. This will not affect the plot but will better reveal the characters. Continue the investigation and compile the following chains:
- Body capture — Transfer Machine;
- Ex Machina — View records;
- Unclear intervention — Salma's recorder;
- Essence of intrigue — Green's plans;
- Green's move — Icarus Salon;
- Incomplete intrigue — Bigwigs from the red room;
- Necessary death — Green's shadow;
- Ends in water — Ouroboros;
After analyzing the evidence, Sara will ask who is responsible for these murders. For the best ending, choose the option Green is behind all this.
You will find yourself on the beach for the second time, but the outcome will be the same — you will be dragged to the bottom. Upon landing, move towards the train.
Train Wreck
In the first train car, you need to examine the corpse by the right wall. Activate the ultraviolet and study the blood trail until you find the shoe print. Examine the recorder on the table, and to the right, another body. Take out the camera, photograph the device under the far seat, the victim's brain, and the frame at the exit of the car. Study the found evidence, and using the X-ray, determine the shooter's location, after which you can activate the reconstruction.
During the reconstruction, you will simply need to set the time correctly and watch the past events. Move to the next car. There, you need to photograph the first corpse in the center of the car and the second one, slightly to the left and closer to the detective.
After finishing the reconstruction, examine the floor (in our case, the wall) for blood traces. Using ultraviolet, reach the third car, where you will need this device again. James will begin to be sucked into the passage; the longer you can hold on, the more you will learn about his internal struggle. Despite the resistance, the detective will still fall in.
Central Park
After the crash, turn on the siren in the car so that help arrives and the killed policeman can be revived. Move straight ahead and climb the scaffolding on the right to jump to the other side. Continue moving towards the statues until a cutscene begins.
You will need to survive the final shootout. You can ask questions or approach directly. After the dialogue, you will be offered to shoot. If you followed the guide and did all the important actions correctly, an additional line Drop the weapon will open, leading to the true ending. All that remains is to watch the final cutscene and credits with Sara's audio recording, which may change depending on your in-game decisions.
How long does it take to complete Nobody Wants to Die?
Despite the convoluted story and variability, the game can be completed in a relaxed pace in 5-6 hours. However, to obtain all the achievements, some of which are mutually exclusive, you will need to play the game a second time, meaning a full playthrough can take up to 10 hours.
