TOP 10 hired killers in games, films, TV series: Agent 47, John Wick, Deadpool and even the sex slave Sava
The long-awaited conclusion to the trilogy about the deadly adventures of Agent 47 has been released — Hitman 3. The cold-blooded killer is at his best as always and again deals with his targets in the most unexpected ways. However, the mercenary with a barcode on the back of his head is not the only legend in this profession. It is about the coolest killers in games, films and TV series that we will talk about in this article.
Agent 47 (Hitman)
Let's start, of course, with the hero of the day. It's unlikely that while working on Hitman: Codename 47, IO Interactive could have thought that Agent 47 would soon gain cult status. It is simply impossible to confuse this genetically engineered killing machine with anyone else. All of him is the embodiment of style: from the tips of his shoes, polished to a shine, to the no less shiny top of his head. His business cards: a red tie and a barcode with the numbers 640509040147 on the back of his head.
Whatever trials the ruthless killer faced, because in order to effectively eliminate his targets, he had to pretend to be a model, drummer, artist, detective and many more. He usually acts secretly, and prefers a spectacular «accident» to a dull shot to the temple.
Much of the character's success is due to voice actor David Bateson. It was he who gave Agent 47 his appearance, and the image turned out amazing.
By the way, you can look at the legendary killer not only in games, but also in two films: 2007 and 2015. Both turned out to be commercially successful, but were crushed by both critics and viewers. All that remained of the monolithic image in the films was the appearance, and nothing at all of the spirit of the series. Therefore, we can only wait for a worthy film adaptation. The series is currently in production, but very little is known about it. However, the script for it is being written by Derek Kolstad, one of the creators of John Wick, which definitely gives hope.
Hitman 3 concludes the story of the legendary hitman, and does so very skillfully. But how long IO Interactive will leave their cult hero alone is unknown. It is unlikely that there is a full stop in the career of Agent 47, but rather an ellipsis. Surely in a couple of years we will again go on a dangerous mission that no one else will be able to handle.
Assassin's Creed
The first game in the Assassin's Creed series was released in 2007 and amazed many: amazing graphics, incredible parkour, leaps of faith and hidden blades — it all seemed like something fantastic. Of course, in addition there were many tiring activities of the same type, but for the sake of this they could be endured.
The series includes many games about assassins from various places and times. Here are Altair from the Middle East during the Crusades, and Ezio Auditore from Italy during the Renaissance, and Connor Kenway in the United States during the Revolutionary War, and many others.
However, no matter what time and what country the new assassin goes to, his faithful companions will always be parkour, a hidden blade and hatred of the Templars (although sometimes you can suddenly find yourself on the other side of the barricades). Deftly climb somewhere higher, wait for the target to appear and spectacularly jump on it, plunging the tip flying out of the sleeve straight into the scoundrel's neck — this is what real killers do.
The series can be rightly criticized for its grind, uniformity, and level system that appeared in 2017, but no other game can immerse a gamer in so many eras and introduce so many legendary personalities as skillfully as Assassin's Creed.
Of course, the popular series could not help but attract the attention of filmmakers. In 2016, the film «Assassin's Creed» was released. Despite the impressive cast with Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard in the lead roles, the film turned out to be completely passable. She still managed to pay for herself, but both fans and producers definitely expected much more.
There are also a couple of good cartoons about assassins like Assassin's Creed: Domination and Assassin's Creed: Embers, and Netflix announced a series in the fall. Look forward to.
Villanelle (Killing Eve)
Villanelle is one of the main characters in the 2018 TV series Killing Eve. The first season was directed by the incomparable Phoebe Phoebe Waller-Bridge, and the following directors did not disappoint, giving the viewer the image of a ruthless, psychopathic, but incredibly charming killer.
Villanelle's work style is far from usual, because everything quiet, secretive and boring disgusts her. She likes showiness much more! Disemboweling a victim, staging an erotic performance, right in front of the crowd, or finishing off a poor fellow in an office center by pinching his tie in an elevator — this is her style: bright, provocative, emotional. Each of her affairs is a perverted art, generated by a sick consciousness, and following them is a real pleasure.
Villanelle is not flawless, she has weaknesses, she can be vulnerable, she can make mistakes. This makes her image even stronger, makes you empathize with the abnormal maniac. Of course, we wouldn't be discussing Villanelle if it weren't for Jodie Comer's talent. For her performance, the actress received an award from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, and the show itself won in the «Best Drama Series» category. So if you missed Killing Eve, take a closer look: you'll probably like it.
Deadpool (Marvel)
Deadpool is definitely one of the craziest Marvel characters and definitely the craziest hitman. «The Chatty Mercenary» not only has a cynical and vulgar sense of humor, but also realizes that he is a comic book character. He regularly teases the writers, and in one of the stories he even managed to sneak into our world and make the comic book authors regret that they had invented him. Well, the Marvel universe got it from Deadpool, because one day he, completely crazy, cut out all the superheroes beloved by readers.
In general, Wade Wilson was invented in 1991 as a response to the legendary Slade Wilson, better known in the DC universe as Deathstroke. At first, our anti-hero was an ordinary mercenary, but, having contracted cancer, he took part in the Weapon X experimental program. That's when he became that Deadpool.
Having started his career as a villain, he was so beloved by the reader that in 1997 he received his own comic book, regularly looked into cartoons, later appeared in a dubious image in Wolverine's solo film, became the hero of the game of the same name and, of course, not so long ago received his own full meter.
Deadpool has a huge fan base and it's easy to explain. Still, there is simply no second character as crazy and unconventional.
Deathstroke (DC)
Although the creators of Deadpool were inspired by Deathstroke, these characters do not have much in common. Slade Wilson also participated in an experimental military program, after which he gained incredible strength, agility, intelligence and even increased regeneration, although before the improvements he was the best soldier the world has seen. There are practically no other intersections with the Marvel anti-hero.
Deathstroke is professional and always focused. Before battle, he studies the terrain, recognizes weak points, draws up an impeccable plan, and only then delivers a fatal blow. His arsenal is impressive: from swords to machine guns, from sniper rifles to bombs and grenades.
Deathstroke's qualities make him an unimaginably dangerous foe for even the most powerful superheroes. Everyone got it from him: Batman, Flash, and the entire Justice League. Yes, yes, he once fought alone against a powerful team of superheroes and won.
Of course, such a significant hero could not help but go beyond comics and animated series. Deathstroke is the main antagonist of one of the seasons of Arrow, he strikes fear into superheroes in the second season of Titans, appeared in the post-credits scene in Justice League, and has appeared more than once in games such as Batman: Arkham Origins, Batman: Arkham Knight and the Injustice series (here he even takes the side of good).
Interesting fact: at first the villain was called the Terminator, but only four years later the legendary James Cameron film was released. The authors, realizing that the name Terminator is now associated with a cyborg killer from the future, decided to use the original nickname less often.
Deadshot (DC)
Deadshot is another legendary assassin from the DC universe. Initially, Floyd Lawton tried to be a hero and took on the role of a crime fighter. But few people appreciated his methods and disregard for human lives. Since then, Deadshot has become Batman's enemy and one of the most effective killers in the world, regularly boasting that he has never made a single mistake in his career.
Sometimes Deadshot takes on the role of an anti-hero. For example, he is often the leader of the Suicide Squad, who has saved the world more than once. The elaborate image made the mercenary one of the most popular DC characters. In addition to comics and many animated series, Deadshot can be found in the games Injustice 2, Batman: Arkham City and Batman: Arkham Origins, in the TV series Smallville and Arrow "and in the film «Suicide Squad», where the role of the killer was played by Will Smith.
John Wick (John Wick movie)
Keanu Reeves has had an undulating career, and after some incredible highs, Mr. Breathtaking may fall off the radar for a long time. It was the role of the assassin John Wick, nicknamed «Baba Yaga», that once again brought Keanu to the rays of glory.
According to the plot, John Wick retired and lived peacefully until stupid thugs disturbed his peace by breaking into the house and killing the dog, which was the only thing left after his wife. The enraged former killer could not forgive this and went after the heads of the scoundrels.
John Wick is probably the most stylish assassin, because he looks amazing, and his every move is graceful, and every blow is spectacular and effective. Any fight with his participation is a deadly dance that will inevitably end in the death of the enemy.
Keanu Reeves' character instantly became popular in pop culture: the John Wick skin can be found even in Fortnite and PayDay 2. Fans dissect the films in detail, studying the curious world of the trilogy and admiring the fight choreography.
Leon (the film «Leon»)
Released in 1994, «Leon» is one of those cinematic masterpieces that are a must-see, regardless of the viewer's gender, age or religion. «Leon» became, perhaps, the main film in Jean Reno's career and, of course, a brilliant debut for young Natalie Portman.
The father of her heroine Matilda is involved in dirty dealings. One day, thugs come for him and his family, and the girl returning home can only fearfully walk past the door of her own apartment and knock on her neighbor, who turns out to be the killer Leon. Thus begins a story of friendship, fatherhood and revenge.
Leon teaches the young lady the only thing he knows how to do — kill, and the girl teaches Leon to be alive. After all, emotionally he is stuck at the level of a child; he cannot make friends, love, or care. This union gives the viewer perhaps the best film about assassins and definitely one of the best films in the history of cinema.
Lorne Malvo (Fargo, season one)
Fargo is an outstanding series, and I would recommend its first two seasons to anyone and everyone. The first tells a rather dark story, where the weak and unable to stand up for himself hero Martin Freeman falls under the influence of a charismatic assassin and at some point awakens the beast within himself. However, it was the killer played by Billy Bob Thornton who became the real gem of the series.
Lorne Malvo is not your typical hitman. He is a skilled manipulator, a pretender who gets used to any role, a tempter who loves to awaken the darkest sides in people. Emotions mean little to him. When killing, he does not feel an ounce of sympathy for the victims, but he still has a certain code of honor. A worthy, albeit defeated opponent, Lorne Malvo can spare. Although, probably only because it's more fun.
Billy Bob Thornton plays his role absolutely incomparably, and the entire series holds the bar from the first to the last frame. If you missed Fargo, get over it soon. It's unlikely you'll regret it.
Sava (Kite — Killer Girl)
«Kite the Killer Girl» is a brutal anime, where there was room for both bloody violence and very explicit erotic scenes. The project caused many scandals in its time, and it is difficult to recommend it to everyone. However, if you are not the shy type, then give it a try.
Sava's parents were killed when she was still a child, and a police detective began to «take care» of her. But the upbringing was too non-standard: the second father not only turned the girl into a skilled killer, but also used her for sexual pleasures. However, one day Sava will go crazy and take revenge for all the evil that was done to her.
The main character is a bright and truly unique character, because she combines the body of a child, the ruthless composure of a killer and the mentality of a sex slave. Is it possible to meet someone similar somewhere else? Hardly — and thank God.
