Most of the planet was destroyed by a cataclysm, which led to the emergence of strange creatures resembling zombies. The survivors named them "brainiacs." The last representatives of humanity fend them off while hiding in whimsical shelters made from various materials. Along the way, they try to understand the reasons behind the strange purple storm that started it all.

The online shooter Fortnite initially launched as a cooperative game where a group of four players must destroy waves of enemies and complete tasks on the map. Later, a free-to-play "Battle Royale" mode was introduced, designed for 100 players, where the last one standing wins. Both game modes are popular due to dynamic gameplay, a lengthy story campaign, or intense battles with other players, along with extensive upgrade options that keep players coming back to the game.

1) Random generation of all content: level landscapes, buildings and roads, types of missions and tasks, types of rewards and loot, weapon blueprints, ammunition, and other items.

2) Resource gathering from three basic and a dozen additional materials for building walls and other barriers, various traps, weapons, ammunition (blueprints required), and other necessary items.

3) Building and destructible environments. Everything in the game can be broken down and repurposed, for example, to build a safe corridor for evacuating survivors or a fortress for self-defense. Enemies can also destroy all constructions, so be careful!

A purple cosmic storm of unknown nature struck Earth. It immediately turned 97% of the planet's population into dozens of various brainiacs, which somewhat resemble zombies. Different brainiacs perform different functions during attacks and become more aggressive and stronger during the storm. Survivors found a way to protect themselves from the threat by building energy shields that guard their settlements. The player starts as the leader of one such settlement, needing to provide for their residents, find other survivors, seek allies to expand the anti-storm shield, and figure out how to restore Earth to its normal state.

The main menu of Fortnite serves as the player's base, featuring a map of the game world with tasks, character selection menu, upgrade menu, etc. At first, everything will be surrounded by purple fog, but as the story progresses, it will recede further from the base. The main goal is to permanently destroy the storm and return the planet to its usual course; however, this process is planned to take 500 hours or more. In Fortnite, side missions are closely tied to the storyline, and shocking details can only be uncovered by completing 3-5 side missions.

Four classes of heroes (soldier, builder, ninja, and gatherer, the meaning of which is clear from the name) are divided into five types: common, rare, epic, legendary, and mythical. The last type of character has more levels for upgrading, maximum abilities and skills that can be unlocked, compared to the first. During the mission, the Fortnite player embodies the character of an operative, meaning you can try out all their kinds and types. To upgrade characters, you need to gain experience earned during missions and development points, which are activated using special items and after unlocking skills.

This is the main game mode that can be played with friends or solo with bots. Gather resources, complete missions, build structures, set traps, and shoot enemies. If you complete all the quests exactly as the game requires, you will receive additional bonuses — money, experience, development points, blueprints, etc. The further you are from your base, the harder the game will be. You need to unlock the entire game area.

The battle royale in Fortnite takes place on one giant map, with no gameplay feature, including building and crafting, removed. But you can focus and just search the map for weapons, ammo, traps, and other items that are randomly distributed in houses, trees, cars, and similar places. Over time, a purple storm surrounds the island, so you can't stay in one place for long — you'll have to move to the center of the map, where it's much more dangerous.

A total of 100 players participate, but there will be only one winner. Cooperative mechanics are available, where you can compete with opponents in squads or duos, and revive fallen teammates. You need to shoot carefully, as friendly fire also deals damage. Soon, various vehicles and several combat maps will be introduced instead of just one.
