TOP 5 cool games with poor optimization
Optimization is a very important thing, which, however, developers sometimes forget about. Sometimes bugs and multiple errors can completely ruin the impression of the game, but there are also the opposite situations. After all, if the game is cool, players will enjoy it in any case, regardless of optimization glitches. In this article, we have collected several disgustingly optimized games that at one time managed to win people's love.
Mount & Blade 2 Bannerlord
Released in March 2020 Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord immediately began breaking records on Steam, receiving hundreds of positive ratings. This is all despite the fact that technically the creation of TaleWorlds Entertainment is, to put it mildly, far from ideal. Bugs pop up here and there, FPS constantly sags, crashes prevent you from fully enjoying the game. However, despite all these problems, behind the screen of errors lies a truly unique game in which you can lose yourself for tens, if not hundreds, of hours.
We have already mentioned Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord is among the top games that can humiliate your PC — and for good reason. The game has a huge number of advantages that even poor optimization and bugs cannot overshadow.
Crysis
Crysis has truly become the benchmark for any hardware. Many people still use Crytek's creation to test what their «machine» is capable of. However, not only this made the shooter truly cult. The game was loved for its varied gameplay (thanks to the nanosuit!), huge open spaces and good shooter mechanics. What can I say, the game is remembered even after 13 years. Isn't this a sign of love and recognition from the audience?
Kingdom Come: Deliverance
Kingdom Come: Deliverance is similar in many ways to Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord, but here realism became the main component of the game. It is he who gives the player freedom and the opportunity to develop his hero in the way that real life itself would allow.
For many, the creation of Daniel Vavra has become a kind of Polish analogue of The Witcher. Despite the complete humiliation of even the most powerful PCs, players forgave the developers for the dampness of the RPG and generously thanked Warhorse Studios with high ratings and good purchasing activity.
Grand Theft Auto 4
Oh, how much pain the owners of the PC version of Grand Theft Auto 4 experienced! The game did not display textures, bugs crawled out of all the cracks — what can we say, it was almost impossible to even launch the game in the first days (thanks, Windows Live). However, the story and world that Rockstar recreated in the fourth part of the cult series mercilessly captured the attention of players. It was incredibly interesting to follow Niko Belik as he pursues the American dream. Still, the desire to find out whether the Serb would be able to reach the top of the criminal hierarchy forced him to fight his way to the end of the story through pain, suffering and bugs.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
What could be better than walking through good old Oblivion? That's right — walks without glitches. At one time, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion became a real hell for players. No, the game itself was great, and many still remember it as one of the best parts of the Elder Scrolls. But at the same time, everyone also remembers that the engine chosen by Bethesda was already poorly coping with the assigned tasks. This word has been heard more than once or twice, but, Lord, there were so many bugs in the game...
The frame rate was also not very stable. But damn, what a delightful world the craftsmen from Bethesda have created. The impressions from the passage are much stronger than all the negativity from the glitches that I had to endure. As they say, love is evil. You'll love TES4 too.
***
Despite the fiasco of Fallout 76 or, say, Assassin's Creed: Unity, there are many examples that even poor technical performance sometimes does not spoil the experience of the game. The projects mentioned above prove this. What games made you love through tears? Write your options in the comments.
