Great idea and cool graphics? What else is needed for success? The list can go on, but Orcs Must Die! has enough of the first two points. The essence is this: our character, a not particularly gifted battle mage, is left alone against hundreds and even thousands of orcs. The main task is to protect the portals that lead to our world from the orc world.

Can there ever be too many traps?

The combat system in the game is quite simple — you can swing your sword, shoot enemies with a crossbow, and there's also magic divided into four main elements, representing a very powerful force. Of course, the main character is the first and last line of defense, meaning you can stand on the front line smashing orcs with magic, or weaken most of the raid with traps and finish off those who broke through with a crossbow.

he main feature — the use of various traps in the game — is impeccably executed and balanced. For each specific map, we are free to choose any defense strategy. Of course, not all of them will be successful. Determining the main direction of attack and organizing adequate defense in the right place is the task of a true strategist! But don't think you'll be laying hundreds of traps, one after another, following a strategy learned once. The game presents a variety of enemies, and the level design differs, so before setting traps, you'll have to consider the effectiveness of each one.

Often, you'll have to build composite defensive redoubts, combining completely different types of traps, and determining the right combination can be challenging, requiring several rounds before it's revealed.

I love my job!

The developers also considered the possibility of upgrading, but not the main character, rather his auxiliary tools and materials. The less you die in the game, the more "skulls" you earn — you can spend them on global upgrades (most of which simply reduce the cost of traps). And already in the game, according to the chosen defense strategy, you can purchase those upgrades that will either significantly strengthen the traps and units or the main character himself. The price of this pleasure is high, but it's worth it! So make sure to visit the guardians' shop often.

Traps will be very, very useful to us

It's also pleasing that the main character doesn't stay silent but comments on the battle, while his enemies scream something like "life is unfair" as they roast on the trap's coals. The game really lucked out with graphics — excellent effects, good textures, and animation of the main character and opponents. For an arcade, this is a very good level of visualization.

Goodbye, bad boys!

The main enemy of Orcs Must Die! is monotony — the first few hours are played with excitement and wild drive, but as the difficulty increases, the game starts to get boring and even annoying. However, this is a drawback of any arcade, so don't force yourself; play for a couple of hours a day, and OmD will leave a great impression!
