He charged the Spartan suit and brought the war veteran to his senses to share the news. And they turned out to be quite sad: the last battle with the aliens ended in the defeat of the people. The war is lost, humanity is almost destroyed. The only way to survive is to run wherever you look. But, of course, Master Chief is not one to run away from problems. Only after waking up after a long sleep in cold space does he throw up his rifle and go into battle.
