Replaces FAL/SA-58. The SIG MCX SPEAR was introduced by Sig Sauer for the US Army's Next Generation Squad Weapon (NGSW) program chambered in .277 FURY. Sig Sauer was selected as the winner on April 19, 2022, designated XM5 in U.S. military service.
