Croatian studio Croteam started with a football simulator for Amega, their first game Football Glory. The game earned high marks from critics. The second one didn't work out so well. But in 2001, the Croats released a game that could be called a direct successor to DOOM. By that time, everyone was already accustomed to shooters with a plot. And Serious Sam deliberately avoided excess fluff. It was a shooter whose whole essence was action and constant brutal combat. Monsters on the level were bombarded with entire divisions. The world, which had time to digest half-life, deus ex and two parts of thief, shuddered from such old-fashioned hardcore. Хорватская студия Croteam начинала с футбольного симулятора для амеги уже первая их игра Football Glory. Игра заслужила высокие оценки критиков. Со второй все сложилось не так удачно. Но в 2001 году Хорваты выстрелили игрой которую впору было бы назвать прямым наследником DOOM. К тому моменту все уже привыкли к шутерам с сюжетом. А Serious Sam намеренно отказывался от лишней шелухи. Это был шутер вся суть которого заключалась в действие и постоянной жестокой борьбе. Монстров на уровне забрасывали целыми дивизиями. I have never had so much fun shooting at monsters in any game. The plot of the game is quite simple, but the graphics, gameplay and soundtrack (I liked the music on the last level the most) pull it out. One of the best monster shooters of all time.
Ни в одной игре так не отрывался, стреляя по монстрам. Сюжет игры достаточно прост, однако графика, геймплей и саундтрек (больше всего понравилась музыка на последнем уровне) вытаскивают его. Один из лучших монстр шутеров на все времена.
The original Serious Sam from 2001 is the very first first-person shooter I ever played.
Serious sam is a representative of spin-off shooters where the developers worked not so much on the plot as on the gameplay. The essence of the game is only to shoot a bunch of enemies with different guns, of which there are enough in the game, the original game looks very outdated, but the developers have released an HD remaster that still looks nice. The first Serious Sam looks worse than other parts (if you do not compare the remaster with the second part), but it is the first SS (TSE/TFE) that is the most dynamic and fun parts.

Serious sam — это представитель спиномозговых шутеров где разработчики работали не столько над сюжетом, сколько над геймплеем. Суть игры лишь в том, чтобы отстреливать кучи врагов разными пушками которых в игре хватает, оригинальная игра выглядит уже весьма устаревше, однако разрабы выпустили HD ремастер который и по сей день смотрится симпатично. Первый Serious Sam выглядит хуже других частей (если не сравнивать ремастер с второй частью), однако именно первый SS (TSE/TFE) это самые динамичные и весёлые части.
