System Shock is a legendary shooter with a first-person view and elements of a role-playing game in a cyberpunk style. The game takes place in the year 2072, where all resources on Earth have been practically depleted. One of the corporations is building orbital stations for mining on other planets. But at one of the neglected stations, artificial intelligence goes crazy and turns all the staff into hostile mutants. You, as a hacker, will have to fight an unequal battle, fighting both in reality and in cyberspace.

Just think, the very first System Shock came out even before the Windows 95 operating system appeared! In that ancient time, when most computer gamers reveled in the banal first Doom, where you just know how to shoot and dodge. The plot and versatility of Shock seemed to many then too abstruse and complex, and the action itself, on the contrary, was too primitive. Therefore, the game did not find popularity among the broad masses. But those few who took the trouble to understand the essence of the game got involved and did not stop playing until the very end. Подумать только, самый первый Систем Шок вышел ещё до появления операционки Виндоуз 95! В ту давнюю пору, когда большинство компьютерных геймеров упивалось банальным первым Думом, где только знай стреляй да уворачивайся. Сюжет и многоплановость Шока показались тогда многим слишком заумными и сложными, а собственно экшен, наоборот — слишком уж примитивным. Потому игра у широких масс популярности не сыскала. Но те немногие, что взяли на себя труд вникнуть в суть игры, втянулись и не бросили играть до самого конца. Да, графика, управление и звук по нынешним временам — полный отстой.
