WWE 2K — new game mechanics are introduced — a new control and grip scheme called "Ultimate Control Moves". Unlike previous games in the series, when the player only needed two buttons — grab and strike, in the new game players were given the opportunity to choose a position to grab and continue to grab with an attack, which depended on the position (there were several hits and attacks for each position) .
