Writer and game designer Josh Sawyer, known for Fallout: New Vegas and Pillars of Eternity, called manual save in games a harmful and erroneous function. His statement was unexpectedly supported by the creator of Dishonored.

Josh Sawyer succinctly expressed this idea on social networks:

In the responses to his post, the game designer compared the function to chicken nuggets — they say that in terms of usefulness and attractiveness, they are on the same level. Dishonored and Dark Messiah creator Raphael Colantonio also noted in the comments. He supported his colleague, but noted that he still allows players to choose for themselves.

Other users also responded to Josh Sawyer's statement. Some agreed with his statement, while others noted that manual saves allow you to leave the game for a long time without worrying about losing progress. Someone even reminded the game designer of Fallout: New Vegas, in which saving on F5 could simply not work due to bugs. Most still agreed that this function is more useful than harmful.

Earlier it became known that the Obsidian studio began working on an unannounced game, which may be a new Fallout. Presumably, Josh Sawyer is also involved in the production.
