A demo of Gothic 1 Remake from Alkimia Interactive was presented at the recent Gamescom. Wccftech not only got acquainted with the «demo», but also prepared an interview with the developers, sharing new details about the project.
The most interesting and important points from the conversation are given below:
- Gothic 1 will not have any locations closed to players, but the path to some can only be found as you progress;
- Weapons cannot be improved, only forged at a higher level;
- Most quests can be completed in any order, except for story ones;
- The game will only allow you to level up your character to level 50;
- A full walkthrough of the game will take about 30 hours. The developers plan to expand the last chapters, adding another 10 hours of content;
- The remake will be quite replayable;
- The camera in Gothic 1 Remake can be fixed both on the left and in the middle of the screen;
- The game will add more ways to complete certain tasks. There will be new quests for different guilds;
- Gothic 1 Remake will have a complex system of reactions to the hero, depending on the plot, missions, character role and events in the world;
- Access to water magic will open earlier than in the original;
- Difficulty settings will appear in the game;
- There will be no New Game + mode;
- The training system will remain the same, but the Nameless One will be able to additionally learn to swim and dive;
- Ray tracing technology will be added to the remake;
- Gothic 1 Remake will be additionally adapted for PS5 Pro.
Also, the Wccftech publication shared some details of the demo version of Gothic 1 Remake. For example, additional «secrets» with loot will appear underwater, the player, as in the original, will be able to leave alive after losing a fight, and cooking will become another source of income.
The release date of Gothic 1 Remake is still unknown, but the game is planned to be released before March 2025. The remake will appear on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. You can watch the gameplay of the demo version of Gothic 1 Remake here.
