Ubisoft management did not deny the news that Tencent might buy out the studio to stabilize it. However, «all strategic options» are currently being worked out.
Today, Ubisoft sent out an official message to journalists from some publications, in which it commented on the rumor:
By the way, the news about possible privatization was also commented on by the famous journalist and insider Tom Henderson. According to him, the deal with Tencent could result in mass layoffs at the studio. He expects Ubisoft to lose up to 30-40% of its staff.
Earlier, he said that Ubisoft would release a remake of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag relatively soon. The studio allegedly plans to release 10 more games in the AC series over the next five years.
