On August 18, GOG announced that Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time has joined its Preservation Program, and the store page now lists the 2003 action-adventure for modern PCs.
The update adds native widescreen and ultrawide support, along with intelligent FOV scaling based on monitor aspect ratio. GOG also says the game now includes a multi-monitor mouse lock option, an FPS limiter, and a new in-game overlay for real-time setting tweaks. -

A team of enthusiasts at wiltOS Technologies, led by Dave Wiltos, is working on an official updated version called Dark Messiah: Community Edition — and doing it not in the usual gray area fan projects live in, but with backing from both Ubisoft and Valve. The publisher took an unprecedented step, effectively handing the modders a blank check: direct access to the game's source code and help with tooling, the kind of thing companies are usually terrified of doing. -

One of Ubisoft's most heavily protected games has finally given in. A hacker going by voices38 announced the release of a classic crack for Assassin's Creed Shadows — and did so personally, from a verified account in the community that tracks the state of DRM protections. It's a 144 GB version for Ubisoft Connect. Within the first forty minutes, the post had racked up close to two hundred comments and nearly unanimous approval from the audience.
