Alkimia Interactive, the studio developing Gothic 1 Remake, shared a new screenshot from the future game. It was again dedicated to the familiar locations of the New Camp.
The image shows rice fields — one of the attractions of the camp, where rice is grown for schnapps and food. In the original game, the Nameless Hero could earn some experience here by delivering water, and even increase the «Strength» attribute with the former blacksmith Horatio.
The rice fields are one of the first things newcomers encounter upon entering the New Camp. Here, under the open sky and in any weather, peasants sweat day and night, forced into grueling labor. Ruling over the fields is the Rice Lord, one of the camp's founders, with his loyal «hound» Lefty keeping order and crushing any signs of disobedience. They also make sure that all of the peasants have enough water to keep working.
This is what the rice fields looked like in the 2001 game. It is noticeable that the scale of the location will be much larger in the remake:
The release of Gothic 1 Remake is scheduled for March 2025. The game will be available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
Earlier, the developers showed a screenshot of the residential area of the New Camp and the Nameless Hero, dressed in mercenary armor. The musical theme of this location from the remake also became available.
