Insider Predicts Capcom's Plans for Resident Evil Franchise Development
Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem is back with a prediction for the franchise's future in the next couple of years. He is confident that by the series' 30th anniversary, Capcom will not only release another adaptation, but also a remake of Resident Evil: Zero.
Dusk Golem reported that Screen Gems/Constantin Films, which produced the Resident Evil films, have a contract with Capcom that allows them to retain the rights to the Resident Evil brand only if they release films every five years. Filming for the next Resident Evil installment is set to begin soon, with the premiere set to take place before the end of the 2026 fiscal year. Rumor has it that the new film will be an adaptation of Resident Evil: Zero with Rebecca and Billy, and that Zach Cregge will direct.
The insider made another speculative guess. In his opinion, Capcom may conclude a deal with Nintendo to release a remake of Resident Evil: Zero on the new generation of consoles. The release will allegedly take place this year, after the launch of Nintendo Switch 2 and just in time for the release of the film adaptation of Zach Cregger. Recall that the remake was first reported by Dusk Golem, and later this information was confirmed by reputable publications.
As for Resident Evil 9, Dusk Golem still expects its release in 2026 for the 30th anniversary of the franchise. We emphasize that all of the above is just a selection of rumors.
Recently, new sales figures for the remake of Resident Evil 4 became known. Judging by them, the project has become one of the fastest-selling games in the series.
