New God of War Reportedly Coming in 2025, Not a Greek Mythology Spin-Off

According to well-known industry insider Jeff Grubb (source), a new God of War installment is slated for release in 2025. He indicates this will be a full-fledged title, not a spin-off revisiting the Greek mythology setting.

Grubb reports that Santa Monica Studio, the developers behind the previous God of War games, are at the helm of this project. The game is said to be a standalone release, and not an expansion. Online speculation suggests its scope might be similar to Spider-Man: Miles Morales. No plot details were revealed by Grubb. It's expected that the game will launch on PS5 first, with a potential PC release to follow.

This news comes after God of War: Ragnarok recently received an update featuring free new skins for Kratos, Atreus, and Freya. Just prior to that, it was announced that Amazon's God of War TV series has been greenlit for two seasons.
