The stylish noir shooter Mouse: P.I. for Hire from Polish studio Fumi Games has delivered an impressive launch for a niche indie project with a cartoon-inspired aesthetic.

According to PlaySide’s official report, the game has sold around 360,000 copies in total, with roughly 47,000 of those coming from Steam pre-orders. Particularly notable is that consoles — PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and Nintendo Switch 2 — accounted for about 44% of overall sales. Gross revenue reached $10.4 million, while net revenue after platform fees came to $6.3 million. The game also performed strongly in the charts, ranking No. 2 among Steam’s top-selling paid games on launch day and No. 2 in the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop.

The game has received a very warm reception from both critics and players. On OpenCritic, it holds an average score of 83 based on 38 reviews, while the PC version has a Metacritic score of 80. Reviewers have especially praised the visual style, atmosphere, and jazz soundtrack. Among the few criticisms mentioned are repetitive combat and a lack of enemy variety. On Steam, the project has an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating, with 95% positive reviews, and its peak concurrent player count has surpassed 13,000 users.

Mouse: P.I. for Hire is a first-person shooter presented in a distinctive black-and-white animation style inspired by classic 1930s cartoons. The story takes place in the fictional city of Mouseburg, where players step into the shoes of private detective Jack Pepper, voiced by Troy Baker. The gameplay blends fast-paced gunfights, investigation, and puzzle-solving, all set to a moody jazz soundtrack.
