In Sons Of The Forest, you can craft primitive survival tools on your own, but more powerful weapons will need to be found in the open world. In this guide, we will tell you how to make a spear, a bow, and a club, as well as find a pistol, a taser, an axe, a shotgun, and other weapons.
This is perhaps the first throwable weapon in the game that is the easiest to obtain. To create it, you will need a small amount of simple resources:

Rope can be found in boxes or in native camps scattered across the map. Most often, it can be found in tents or near them.
A homemade bow is a good weapon for hunting and defense against cannibals. To craft it, you will need to find a rope. We described the approximate location of this resource above. You will also find rope simply by progressing through the story and visiting various points of interest.

Arrows can be crafted in the inventory or printed on a 3D printer. Also, consumables will often be found in large quantities in bunkers and dungeons.

Feathers for arrows are obtained from all birds. Simply use a spear to ambush a bird sitting on the ground.
You can find a machete very quickly if you are lucky enough to spawn on the beach, near the cave with the scuba gear. Head west until you see two beached orcas. There are also two boats here — one of them contains a machete.
At the beginning of the game, you will find a combat axe, but there is also a more advanced version of it, which is not easy to find. Below, we have indicated its location on the map, as well as the characteristics of the weapon, which are significantly higher than those of the starting axe.
This item can also be found by simply exploring the open world. It is located among skulls opposite a small waterfall, near the entrance to a cave. Use the map below as a guide.
Firearms will likely be one of the most effective weapons at the start of the game, and throughout the gameplay. The pistol is not hard to find, especially considering that its location is highlighted with a purple marker on the map. The item is in an inflatable raft floating in the bay.
Getting to it is not very difficult, however, note that you may be attacked by sharks along the way. Depending on the difficulty level you are playing, sharks deal different amounts of damage. For example, on «Normal» difficulty, one bite will take away about a quarter of the protagonist's health. On higher difficulties, the same hit takes away just under half of the health bar. Be sure to heal before swimming for the weapon. We also recommend making a healing mixture. The simplest first aid kit is made from the following ingredients:
Once you reach the boat, you won't find any medical supplies on it, so prepare on the shore.
Note: In the later stages of the storyline, you will find at least one more such weapon when exploring some underground bunkers.
This pistol is not a lethal weapon, but in some situations, it can save your life. It can immobilize an enemy for some time. It can be found at the beginning of the game, but we do not advise running into the cave immediately. You should first find a pistol, make a stock of medicines and arrows for the bow. The location is shown in the screenshot below.
The pistol itself is located on a corpse, hung from the ceiling towards the end of the cave. To find ammunition for it, search all the corpses and caches.
A special device capable of firing a rope and accessing previously unreachable places. It can be found in the cave indicated in the screenshots below.
It will also be needed to find the shovel later in the story.
Usually, the slingshot lies in the pocket of one of the three corpses right in front of the cave where the shovel is hidden. It should be noted that some players may not find it here.
The slingshot is a primitive, but quite useful weapon. It uses small stones as ammunition and can kill natives with just three to five accurate headshots.
The shovel is a very useful tool and an extremely formidable weapon capable of inflicting significant piercing damage. It can be found after obtaining the grappling hook, as only with its help you can overcome the huge wall in the cave. The screenshot below shows the entrance to the required dungeon.
The shovel allows you to dig up graves, where you can find a large number of useful resources, as well as points of interest, access to which was previously limited.
To get a crossbow, you first need to find a red key-card. Once you have it, head to the cave where there is an entrance to an underground bunker. Use the key-card, open the door, and inspect the first corpse you see.
The crossbow «feeds» on regular arrows, which you can craft in your backpack or print on a 3D printer. Also, make sure to inspect the bodies near where you found this weapon. Here will be a small stock of arrows, which should be enough for the beginning.
If you have progressed far enough in the story to find a shovel, you'll need to use it to dig up the entrance to one of the underground bunkers, which we've marked on the screenshot below.
Go down and run forward through the corridor. Enter the room on the right and proceed to the bathroom. To the right of the corpse lies the compound bow. Here you can also find a silencer for the pistol and some valuable supplies, for example, resin for the 3D printer.
The fire axe is a powerful melee weapon in the game. It can only be found if you already have a shovel, as the entrance to the bunker, where the coveted item is located, is buried. To search for the location of the axe with a shovel, use the screenshot with the map.
To search for the shotgun, you will also need a shovel. If you have met this condition, then head to the place indicated in the screenshot and dig up the grave. Break the coffin with any melee weapon and inspect it. Inside, you will find a shotgun, as well as a GPS beacon.
We advise you to save this weapon only for the strongest enemies, as you cannot create ammunition yourself in the game, and the found rounds will not be enough to destroy all the enemies in the game.
Note: As you progress through the story, you will find at least two more similar guns in different bunkers.
An excellent tool for quickly gathering firewood, as well as a great weapon. It can be found by entering the underground bunker marked on the map (this is also where you could first find a 3D printer). It's worth noting that you will need to find a second key-card, which becomes available only after obtaining a shovel and opening the buried bunker.
By holding the RMB, you can continuously inflict damage on the enemy. The chainsaw is located in the corpse of a man.
The revolver is a powerful weapon that can be found closer to the end of the storyline of Sons of the Forest. Head towards the marker on the map and find the entrance to the underground bunker, which is buried near the coast. Here you will see two golf carts and some surveying equipment.
Dig up the entrance and go down. Inspect the corpse of a worker, next to which lies the revolver. As ammunition, the weapon uses standard pistol rounds (9x18), but it has higher damage.
This wonderful melee weapon can be found later in the story, after finding another key-card.
Inspect all the rooms inside the bunker, as here you will find a large number of useful supplies. The katana lies on a stand in one of such rooms.
