This guide will walk you through «The Stolen Throne» quest in Dragon's Dogma 2, where you must cleverly disguise yourself for a masquerade to find and expose a false ruler using a secret passage. We provide detailed steps on how to select the appropriate attire to blend in at the masquerade and tips on navigating the venue to uncover the hidden pathway.
To start the quest, wait for the evening, find Captain Brant in the tavern, and in the dialogue, choose the option «Tell me about the masquerade». He will hand you a twilight mask, which we recommend you put on immediately — it will allow you to blend in with the crowd. Interestingly, it can be equipped with a helmet, but this will not affect the stats.
Also, be sure to wear the courtier's attire you received from completing previous main quests. If you have sold the clothes — do not worry. Run to the marker and enter the building. The guards will object, but if you quickly go down the corridor to the right and inspect the first room, you will find a chest containing the clothes.
After changing, exit the building and re-enter. You will see a man in red attire walking down the corridor. Follow him, bypassing the first door, and find the secret passage. It is disguised as a stone.
Having done this, continue following the marker and watch a lengthy cutscene with Wilhelmina, after which you will see the regent and the false king.
Now simply return to Captain Brant and report what you saw. As a reward, you will receive a shard of the awakening stone, 6500 gold, and 900 experience points.
