Dragon Age: The Veilguard Guide — How to Find All Unique Items
Dragon Age: The Veilguard does not boast a large number of unique items, and during the main storyline, they can easily be missed. Such weapons and armor can significantly improve your hero's characteristics, opening new possibilities for leveling up. In this guide, we will detail how and where to find all the unique items hidden in various locations of the game.
Unique Weapons
In the game, you can find six types of weapons with unique rarity. Below we will tell you what actions need to be taken to obtain these items and describe their characteristics.
Brute Hammer
Head to the Burned Village during the quest «Slaying The Fangscorcher», which can be taken from Taash. Defeat the dragon, and then explore the treasury where you will find the unique weapon.
The hammer has excellent combat characteristics — +375 physical damage and +250 to stun. Additionally, you will deal 100% more damage to armored enemies.
The Hard Way
This hammer can be found during the quest «Missing in Action» in Treviso. Head to the central part of the location on Coin Street and climb the stairs to enter the building. Interact with the bookshelf to open a hidden door to the balcony, where a chest with the promised hammer awaits you.
Using this hammer, you will get +256 to physical damage and +80 to stun. When attacking, enemies will receive 50% more damage if their defense level is 0.
Reptile Recurve
To get this short bow, you need to interact with the Candlehops that appear after completing the side quests «Out of Tune» and «A Hidden Hoard» in Dock Town. Each candle will be marked on your map, so finding them will not be difficult.
Gather all the candles and return to the «Shadow Dragon Hideout» to receive your reward.
This weapon has 358 damage points and 146 stun points. Each shot from it causes necrosis in the enemy, dealing additional damage over time.
Meredith's Legacy
Complete the quest «Lair of the Dragon King» in Taash's quest line and solve the puzzle with the statues «Treasure of Sharkmouth Mountain» on the Rivain coast to open a hidden room with a chest containing treasures and weapons.
The sword deals 274 necrotic damage and 160 stun. It also has a unique ability to block damage from your companions' potions and abilities.
Mythals' Light
Complete the quest «Regrets of the Dread Wolf» in the Crossroads, where you need to talk to Mithal and convince her to join your cause without using weapons. Choose the pacifist path to receive the sword as a reward at the end of the quest.
The sword deals 180 stagger and adds +80 damage from fire, necrotic substances, electricity, and cold.
Casket Sharp
Head to the Crossroads and complete the side quest «Gate of Pale Reflection» in the «Heart of Darkness» quest line. Completing it will grant you a unique axe. This item is the second unique part of the «Gate of Pale Reflection» quest.
The axe deals 423 physical damage and 175 stun. Light attacks act as heavy ones, and killing enemies stuns other nearby enemies.
Unique Armor
In Dragon Age, you can find 10 different variations of armor with unique rarity. Each has special characteristics that will help you create a strong and unique character.
Pillar of the Departed
Head to the Necropolis arena and complete the quest «Restless Spirit» to unlock the «Restless Spirit» quest line. Completing it will grant you unique heavy armor, which is part of the quest. In the end, you will have to defeat a dragon, after which you will gain access to this unique armor.
This armor provides 200 defense. It has high protection but does not give bonuses to ability damage. When your health drops to a low level, you receive deflection and resistance bonuses.
Paragon's Silent Gaze
Head to the Ancient Mining Operation location and complete the companion quest «The Heart of The Titan», which Harding will assign to you. After obtaining the Worn Journal, shoot the machine to drop the ladder from the ledge. Climb up the ledge on the right, and you will find a green pot. Then jump down, walk along the beam, and squeeze through the narrow gap on the left to enter the Lyrium Cave.
Inside, you will find tracks on the ground that end on the right. Move left to reach a small area where you will find a chest with treasures, and inside it — the unique helmet Paragon's Silent Gaze.
The helmet provides 87 defense and increases ability damage by 30%. It also has a unique ability: any nearby enemies deal less damage if they are targeting you. The effect ceases once the enemies stop pursuing you.
Iron Veil
Head to the Arlathan Forest and direct the laser beam on the lake shore to remove the magical spell locking the treasure in the center. As soon as you approach the chest, the game will summon a mini-boss — the Keeper of Secrets. Defeat him and then open the chest to obtain a unique light helmet.
The helmet provides 44 defense and increases ability damage by 30%. When an enemy dies, it creates a ghost that attacks nearby enemies, dealing necrotic damage.
Note: this item is not associated with any quest and can be obtained at any time.
Deathrattle
Head to Mourn Watch and complete the «Hauntings Quest Chain» given by the Warden. In the process of this series, you will face death itself. Defeating it will grant you the long-awaited helmet.
The helmet provides 73 defense and increases ability damage by 11%. Precise hits guarantee a 100% success rate at low health.
Magister's End
Head to Dock Town and complete the regional quest «Desperate in Dock Town». In the catacombs, follow the objective marker to reach the Forgotten Shrine. The chest with unique light armor will be located next to the bridge activator, directly opposite the blue door.
The armor provides 50 defense and increases ability damage by 80%. It also has a 30% resistance to electricity. Perfect evasion triggers faster, and while the accelerator is active, 50 electric damage is added to attacks and abilities.
Jenny's Belt
Head to Treviso, to the Dellamorte Manor, and solve the puzzle. If you encounter difficulties, use our guide to find the quickest way to solve the statue puzzle. Once the puzzle is solved, open the chest to obtain Jenny's grenade belt.
This belt provides 500 healing. When using a potion, you send bees to the nearest enemies, who will be attacked by them.
Glorious Ultimatum
Complete the «Companion Taash» quest chain to unlock access to the regional quest «Dead Men Tell Some Tales». At the end of the quest, you will find a unique belt in the chest.
The belt increases the maximum charge rate by 25%. After using a potion, health is not restored, but the final activation of the belt's full charge restores health to maximum.
Field-Commander's Helm
Head to the Hossberg Swamps and complete the side quest «Gate of Pale Reflection» in the «Heart of Corruption» quest line. At the end of the building, you will receive the heavy Field-Commander's Helm. This helm is also part of a quest that rewards two unique items.
The helm provides 131 defense and increases rage by 75%. Abilities now do not require rage but have a 60-second cooldown. Damage increases by 1% for every 2 units of rage.
Arlathan's Fall
This equipment cannot be found, only purchased. Head to the Arlathan Forest, to the Veil Jumper Camp, and buy this armor from the Veil Jumper quartermaster. You will need a level 4 shop for this.
It provides 100% ability damage but has no base defense. When hit, you gain 20 defense for 15 seconds, stacking up to 10 times. You are also affected by the Immobility effect, which increases your damage resistance while the armor is active.
Imperium's Resolve
This equipment cannot be found, only purchased. Head to Dock Town, to the Shadow Dragon Camp, and buy the unique heavy armor from the Shadow Dragon quartermaster. You will need a level 4 shop for this.
The armor provides 180 defense and increases ability damage by 25%. It also gives 40% resistance and 5% maximum resistance to fire, cold, necrosis, and electricity. However, while using this armor, you cannot deal damage with fire, cold, necrotic attacks, or electricity — your damage will be limited to physical only.
Unique Shields
There are only three types of shields available for discovery in the game. Follow the tips below to successfully find them.
Fade-Touched Bulwark
Head to the Arlathan Forest, to the Infected Woods region, and complete the «Gate of Faded Glories» quest. After defeating the champion at the end of the quest, place a block on the ground using the Eternal Hymn. Climb to the top of the Infected Woods, where your path will be blocked by a giant sphere.
To open the gate, destroy six glowing red spheres in the location. You do not need to descend; all spheres can be hit from this point. Then enter the opened passage and search the chest.
The shield provides 189 physical damage and 255 stun. Nearby enemies are pulled towards your character only at the moment of perfect evasion.
Gravenstone
Head to the Necropolis Halls, to the Mourning Watch Camp, and buy the unique shield from the Mourning Watch quartermaster. It will cost you 6300 gold. You will also need to upgrade the shop to level 4.
The shield provides 376 physical damage and 350 stun. A dash with the intent of throwing the shield will deal necrotic damage to nearby enemies.
Wedge Of Destiny
Complete the «Something's Coming» quest and finish all side quests in the Hossberg Swamps. Then head to the lighthouse east of the Hossberg Swamps, in the Old Crossroads location. Here you will find a chest with the unique shield Wedge Of Destiny. The path will remain closed until you have completed all previous tasks.
The shield provides 68 physical damage and 42 stun. It adds +10 bounces when throwing the shield. It also ignores the enemy's defense but deals very low damage. The shield throw can hit the same enemy multiple times.
