How to Get All Endings in Dragon Age: The Veilguard
Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a highly anticipated project from BioWare that immerses players in the rich and layered universe of Dragon Age. In the new chapter of the franchise, you become a guardian whose task is to protect the thin boundary between the physical world of Thedas and parallel realities where spirits and demons dwell. In this guide, we will take a detailed look at all the decisions you can make in the final missions to achieve unique endings. Every action you take will have consequences that affect the outcome of the game.
What Influences the Ending
There are many different combinations of endings that depend on who among the characters survives and who meets their fate. However, it is important to note that the overall structure of the final missions and the battle with the final boss will remain unchanged. This means that while your choices and consequences may lead to different outcomes and changes in the story, the actual process of completing the mission and facing the main antagonist will stay the same. The main factors influencing the endings are described below.
Faction Star Rating
The faction star rating is an important aspect of gameplay that affects your interactions with various groups in the game. We recommend aiming for the third level of the faction, as this unlocks additional opportunities and privileges.
The faction rating increases by completing tasks related to that faction and by selling valuables to a trader associated with it. The higher your rating, the more trust you will earn, which can lead to unique quests, improved relationships with characters, and other advantages.
Heroes' Status
If your allies have achieved the status of Heroes, it opens up unique opportunities and privileges for them in the game. To obtain this status, you need to complete special quest lines that begin with conversations with companions at the lighthouse.
Task Distribution Among Companions
In the final mission, spanning chapters 12 to 14, you will need to carefully and strategically distribute tasks among your companions. Each task has its own characteristics, and it is important to consider the skills and strengths of each character.
Choosing the wrong companion for a particular task can have serious consequences, including the death of important NPCs of the faction or even the death of your companions. This adds an element of tension and responsibility to your decisions, as every action can affect the outcome of the mission and the fate of your heroes.
How to Get a Good Ending
The best ending of the game can be considered the one in which all your allies—both companions and faction leaders—remain alive. To achieve this result, you will need to complete absolutely all quests in the game and ensure that each of your companions reaches the status of Heroes.
In addition, it is important to achieve three faction stars, which ensures a high level of trust and support from allies. This path requires attention and strategic planning, as you will have to make important decisions and successfully handle various tasks. By completing all necessary quests and strengthening relationships with factions, you can ensure a safe outcome for all your heroes.
In chapter 12, you need to choose a teammate as a decoy target. Note that regardless of your choice, this character will not survive. Do not worry if this has already happened — it is part of the plot, and the situation will not affect the trophy acquisition. Thus, you can continue playing without worrying about the consequences of this choice. Just focus on completing other tasks and progressing through the storyline as intended by the developers.
After the boss fight in chapter 12, you will have to choose an ally again to go and destroy the wards. This time your choice will be between Niv and Bellara. Regardless of whom you choose, this character will temporarily leave your team and be displayed as dead. Do not be upset — you will have the opportunity to save them in the next storyline chapter. When the character returns, make sure to level them up to Hero status.
Obtaining the The Ones That Last Achievement
Below we provide a complete list of actions to achieve this trophy:
- In chapter 6 (A Warden's Best Friend), choose to save MINRATHOUSNE, this will help you achieve at least 2-3 faction stars. If you choose to save Treviso, Dock-Town will remain at 1 faction star, and one of the faction leaders may die, which will nullify the trophy;
- In chapter 12 (Isle of the Gods), choose Darwin as cannon fodder for the boss, the death of this character is inevitable. Choose Bellara to remove the protection. She will temporarily leave your team, but do not worry — you will have the opportunity to save her later. Choose Harding and Niv for the next mission.
In chapter 13 (The Last Gambit), upon returning to the lighthouse, after interacting with the table in Lucanis's quarters, you will need to assign specific roles to your companions for the upcoming battle. Choose the following characters:
- Taash — A companion experienced in working with magical shields or protecting others in combat;
- Lucanis — A companion experienced in fighting mages or surprise attacks;
- Harding — A companion experienced in fighting large enemies.
After escorting Solas and arriving at the safe city, you will find many NPCs to interact with. Pay attention to the quest marked with a blue marker, which will allow you to honor the fallen.
In chapter 14 (The Dread Wolf Rises), you will have to assign your companions again. The best recommendations for the selection are:
- Taash — A companion experienced in frontline battles or sieges;
- After defeating the final boss, choose the dialogues: Let's try your way > I wish things were different.
How to Get the Bad Ending
To get the worst ending, you need to take completely opposite steps. Start the final mission with only 1 star in all factions and without achieving Hero status for your companions. When assigning companions in chapters 12-14, choose the wrong roles for them.
These actions will lead to almost complete loss of your team, which will ultimately result in you getting the worst ending. This way, you can see how your decisions affect the fate of the characters and the storyline development in the darkest scenario.
How to Get the Secret Ending (Post-Credits Scene)
The secret ending will be revealed during the credits of the final mission. To unlock it, you need to meet several conditions:
- First, complete the storyline quest When Plans Align;
- Second, be sure to complete the side quest Regrets of the Dread Wolf. This quest plays an important role in revealing additional plot details and characters.
- And finally, you need to find three Mysterious Circles.
Where to Find the Mysterious Circles
The First Mysterious Circle is located in the Arlathan Forest, on a small island. To reach it, you need to direct all the lasers in this area to the crystals located on the island.
Once you correctly set up the lasers, a bridge will appear, allowing you to cross to the island. After reaching the island, you can collect the first Mysterious Circle, marked in the screenshot below.
The Second Mysterious Circle is located in the Halls of the Necropolis. Before heading there, make sure you have obtained the trophy The Unbound, which is associated with the battle against the Shapeless dragon.
To do this, check the left part of the map to find the needed area. After obtaining the trophy, you can continue your journey and find the second Mysterious Circle in this location.
The Third Mysterious Circle is located in the Crossroads area. To get it, you need to complete the mission Heart of the Blight. After completing this mission, all checkpoints in this area will be marked with a marker, making your journey easier.
In this location, you have already fought the Rebirth Dragon, so just enter the room where the battle took place. The third Mysterious Circle will be located on the left side of the room. Be sure to carefully inspect this area so as not to miss it.
After completing all the key quests, head to the final mission to finish it. After the regular credits, you will unlock the secret cutscene and the achievement The Storm Quelled. If you have already completed the game, don't worry — you can replay the finale at any time to get this trophy and enjoy the additional content.
