Guy Ritchie to Direct a Series About Young Sherlock Holmes
Guy Ritchie will return to the story of Sherlock Holmes — unfortunately, without Robert Downey Jr. According to Variety, the British director has signed a contract with Amazon to create a series about the detective's youth.
The series will be called «Young Sherlock Holmes» and will be based on the book series of the same name by Andy Lane. The future detective will appear as a 19-year-old «disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed» character, investigating a mysterious murder at Oxford University.
The role of Sherlock will be played by Hero Fiennes Tiffin, the nephew of Ralph Fiennes. The actor played Tom Riddle in the sixth «Harry Potter» and Henry Hayes in «The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.»
Guy Ritchie will serve as the director and executive producer of the series. The writer and showrunner's chair will be taken by Matthew Parkhill, known for the series «Deep State.»
The first season will consist of eight episodes. The premiere date is currently unknown.
