Leonardo DiCaprio to Star in Film Adaptation of The Devil in the White City Directed by Martin Scorsese
According to Deadline, 20th Century Fox is gearing up to film The Devil in the White City, with Leonardo DiCaprio set to play the lead role and Martin Scorsese directing. The script is yet to be written.
The Devil in the White City is an adaptation of Erik Larson's book of the same name, which won the Edgar Award for Best Fact Crime in 2004.
The plot revolves around a serial killer who murdered dozens of people while Chicago was hosting the 1893 World's Fair.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese will also serve as producers alongside Stacey Sher, Rick Yorn, and Jennifer Davisson.
Interestingly, DiCaprio acquired the rights for the adaptation back in 2010, but the project had not moved forward until now. Following a meeting between the actor and 20th Century Fox executives, things took a turn. Notably, streaming service Hulu had also been developing a mini-series based on "The Devil in the White City," but it was ultimately canceled.
