Despite the audience's waning attention, Netflix's The Witcher showrunner Lauren Hissrich is counting on new projects in the franchise. Judging by her statements, the main show may get another spin-off.
Netflix already had an unsuccessful experience with the mini-series The Witcher: Blood Origin, which received devastating reviews from viewers in the form of 13% on Rotten Tomatoes and 1.2 out of 10 on Metacritic. Another show in the universe was cut down to a special episode — we are talking about the series The Rats: A Witcher's Tale, which was supposed to tell about Ciri's time in the Rats gang. The only anime that can be called successful is The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, which received an 83% rating and a 6.3 out of 10 score from users of Rotten Tomatoes and Metacritic.
However, according to Lauren Hissrich's interview with SFX Magazine, the showrunner of The Witcher is optimistic about the fate of the Netflix franchise:
She also revealed that she had ideas for spin-offs even before the launch of the first season in 2019, which she showed to Netflix executive Kelly Luegenbiehl. She noted that depending on the success of the show, they could be implemented on screen.
Let us recall that the season 4 of the Witcher series will be released this year. This time, the role of Geralt will be played by Liam Hemsworth, replacing the departed Henry Cavill. The season 5 of the show will be the last. In addition, the premiere of the anime The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep will take place on February 11.
