Hermen Hulst and Hideaki Nishino become new heads of PlayStation
Sony has finally found replacements for Jim Ryan, who left the position of head of PlayStation in early April. According to the official announcement, his successors will be two people: Hermen Hulst and Hideaki Nishino.
Hermen Hulst, who was in charge of PlayStation's internal studios, will retain his previous duties and additionally be responsible for adaptations such as films and TV series. Originally, Hulst was the co-founder of Guerrilla Games, known for the Horizon and Killzone series. Sony acquired the team in 2005.
Hideaki Nishino, in turn, will be responsible for console hardware, technology, accessories, PlayStation Network, and partnerships with third-party companies, ranging from indie studios to major publishers. Nishino has been with Sony since 2006 and has held various positions at Sony Network Entertainment, Sony Corporation, and SIE.
Hermen Hulst and Hideaki Nishino will assume their new roles on June 1, 2024. As noted by journalists, this is the first time in Sony's history that the position of head of PlayStation is occupied by two people.
