Journalist and insider Tom Henderson published a large note regarding leaks of game presentations. Last week, he reported that YouTube employees might be involved in the leaks, and the company had already launched at least two investigations. Today, Henderson shared new details.

  • The first investigation was conducted in 2022. The reason was blogger KSI's videos, in which he watches funny videos and gives away Amazon gift cards if he laughs on camera. The total amount of all cards exceeded $10,000, but it was later discovered that someone activated the codes before the videos were released;
  • As a result of the scandal, KSI pressured Google, and they conducted an internal investigation. According to Tom Henderson's sources, the company fired several people, including those not involved in the incident;
  • Henderson's interlocutors added that YouTube employees constantly monitor bloggers, planned announcements, and presentations;
  • The second investigation was launched shortly after the leak of the GTA 6 trailer, but Henderson admits it could be a coincidence;
  • Apparently, the investigations led to nothing. After the announcement of the May State of Play, Henderson received messages from four different people who leaked him the full list of games. One of them even managed to sell the list to an unknown person and received a small three-figure amount;
  • Henderson believes that the leaks have become a real headache for companies. They cannot upload the trailer or presentation immediately, as the video will be available in 360p at first;
  • The journalist also suggests that so many people might be behind the leaks that YouTube considers their dismissal impractical.
