The concept of GTA 6 was taken up in 2013, pre-production started in 2015, after the release of the PC version GTA 5, and full development began with the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018. Until 2022, there was no information about the game besides numerous rumors from various insiders.

The long development process and the shift of staff to remote work led to leaks. In September 2022, hacker leaked a lot of information about GTA 6, which closely matched the insiders' statements. As of May 2025, the full map of GTA 6 remains a secret, and trailers have not revealed the size of the world. Vice City pleases with a minimum of empty spaces, Rockstar aimed to fill every square meter of the game world. The urban development is permeated by diverse nature — grasses, bushes, trees, creating a lively and realistic world. Water takes many forms: from private pools and entire water bodies, civilized shipping channels and ocean coastlines, to quiet bays and wild lagoons. All districts are connected by transport arteries and bridges, and the metro system ensures quick movement.

The culture of Vice City combines Latin American and American influences, focusing on a glamorous lifestyle, fashion, and popularity. Residents welcome a free and eccentric way of life, reflected in lively times spent in bars, restaurants, clubs, and parties until dawn.

In GTA 6, there are two main characters: woman Lucia Caminos (Latin American) and man Jason Duvall (local resident). They form a criminal duo, connected not only by their shared work but also by feelings. Lucia sets the pace, Jason covers her. At the start of the campaign, the player will play as Jason — doing routine tasks, adapting, passing messages to Lucia in prison. And when she is released — the option to switch between characters will appear.

Jason is a local with a tough background: grew up in a criminal environment, tried to follow the right path — served in the army, tried to stay within the law. But the desire for a life outside rules won. At the start of the game, he works for a drug dealer in the Kise area, deals with debt collection, and lives in a house provided by a local authority — in exchange for his services.

Jason is physically fit, spends a lot of time in the gym, has impressive muscles and a confident manner. His image is a mix of threat, charisma, and resilience. He is not afraid of conflict and is always ready to solve problems with force. No wonder he quickly attracts attention in the game — in the trailer, this is emphasized by female glances, as well as scenes of fights and chases.

Lucia is the opposite of Jason in background, but not in spirit. Originally from Liberty City, she has sought a better life since youth, which her mother did not manage to build. Strong character and self-defense skills are thanks to her father, who raised her not to back down from difficulties. Lucia has already been through prison, where she ended up trying to help her family, and was released early — either by a fortunate coincidence or due to external interference.

After her release, she developed a clear plan for a criminal career, which she intends to carry out. She is ambitious, determined, and much more cold-blooded than her partner. She is the ideologist and driving force behind their criminal duo.

The player can switch between the heroes "on the fly" in free roam mode, but will play the campaign missions as one or the other. Nothing is known yet about the class system and character development in GTA 6.

As of spring 2025, there are no details about the GTA 6 plot. Rumors suggest the main campaign will last 35–40 hours. Now, you can become a celebrity in the game through your virtual life, showing off as a millionaire, a cringe-worthy crazy person, or a streamer chasing after crimes, and gaining millions of followers.
