The concept of GTA 6 was developed in 2013, with pre-production starting in 2015, after the release of the PC version of GTA 5, and full development began with the release of Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018. Until 2022, there was no information about the game, except for numerous rumors from various insiders.

The world of GTA 6 also reflects the different weather conditions of Florida: winds and hurricanes, thunder and lightning, with certain areas submerged in mud.

The world can be explored thoroughly, and players can move around on foot, using more than a hundred vehicles and other wheeled machines, personal helicopters, airplanes, and yachts. Numerous buildings, from shacks and diners to stadiums and skyscrapers, will delight with diverse architecture. And all of this is connected by endless kilometers of roads, from narrow alleys with graffiti on the walls to wide highways.

Vice City delights with a minimum of empty spaces; Rockstar aimed to occupy every square meter of the game world. The urban development is interspersed with diverse nature — grasses, shrubs, trees, creating a lively and realistic world. Water takes on various forms: from private pools and entire bodies of water, civilized navigable canals and ocean coastline lines, to quiet inlets and wild lagoons. All areas are connected by transport highways and bridges, while the metro system ensures quick movement.

The culture of Vice City combines Latin American and American motifs, focusing on the beautiful life, fashion, and popularity. The residents embrace a free and eccentric lifestyle, reflected in the vibrant entertainment scene with bars, restaurants, clubs, and parties until morning.

In GTA 6, there are two main heroes: a woman named Lucia Caminos (a Latina) and a man named Jason Duval (a local). They form a criminal duo connected not only by a common cause but also by feelings. Lucia sets the pace, while Jason covers her. At the beginning of the campaign, the player will take on the role of Jason — dealing with routine tasks, adapting, and delivering packages to Lucia in prison. When she is released, the opportunity to switch between characters will arise.

Jason is a local with a complicated fate: he grew up in a criminal environment, tried to follow the right path — served in the army, and tried to stay within the law. However, the desire for a life outside the rules won. At the start of the game, he works for a drug dealer in the Keys, collecting debts and living in a house provided by a local authority — in exchange for his services.

Jason is physically developed, spends a lot of time in the gym, has an impressive physique, and a confident demeanor. His image is a combination of threat, charisma, and resilience. He is not afraid of conflict and is always ready to solve problems with force. It’s no surprise that he quickly attracts attention in the game — this is highlighted in the trailer by both female gazes and scenes of fights and chases.

Lucia is the opposite of Jason in origin, but not in spirit. Originally from Liberty City, she has sought a better life since her youth, which her mother was unable to build. Her strong character and self-defense skills are thanks to her father, who raised her not to back down from difficulties. Lucia has already been to prison, where she ended up trying to help her family, and she was released early — either by a lucky turn of events or due to someone else's intervention.

After her release, she has a clear plan for her criminal career that she intends to implement. She is ambitious, determined, and much cooler than her partner. She is the ideologue and driving force of their criminal duo.

The player can switch between heroes "on the fly" in free play mode, but missions from the campaign will be played out as him/her. Nothing is known yet about the class system and character development in GTA 6.

As of spring 2025, there are no details about the plot of GTA 6. Rumor has it that the main campaign will last 35–40 hours. The player will participate in heists, robberies, car thefts, and raids, shootouts, and chases on land and water — all against the backdrop of the development of relationships between the heroes.
