Rumor: Valve has been working on a new Half-Life game about Gordon Freeman since 2021
Insider Tyler McVicker shared fresh details about a new Valve game codenamed HLX. According to McVicker, it is indeed the next part of Half-Life.
According to the rumor, the title has been in development since at least 2021. Gordon Freeman is allegedly returning as the main character, and one of the features will be large levels with procedurally generated areas for exploration. However, it is still unclear if the game will have a «3» in the title.
Previously, McVicker also mentioned that the new game will feature melee combat and asymmetric multiplayer.
For now, we can only speculate whether the hypothetical Half-Life 3 will ever be released. The last game about Gordon Freeman, Half-Life 2: Episode Two, was released back in 2007, after which the developers abandoned the series. Only many years later did fans see Half-Life: Alyx with a hint at a continuation.
