Media: Universal Pictures to release a film based on the iconic game Shinobi
According to Deadline, Universal Pictures is set to adapt the iconic Shinobi game series, the first installment of which was released in 1987. The film will be directed by Sam Hargrave, known for his work on the action movie Extraction. The screenplay will be penned by Ken Kobayashi.
Shinobi tells the story of a ninja named Joe Musashi, who battles the criminal organization «Zeed» that has kidnapped children from his clan.
The Shinobi game series has been released on numerous platforms, including arcade machines, Sega Master System, Sega Mega Drive, PlayStation 2, Nintendo 3DS, and more.
The film adaptation will be produced by Marc Platt, Adam Siegel, Dmitri M. Johnson, and Toru Nakahara. Timothy I. Stevenson will serve as the executive producer.
The exact release date has not yet been announced.
