In the iOS version of WhatsApp, widgets will appear

The messenger WhatsApp will receive support for widgets on iOS. The new function has already appeared in the test version of the application and will soon become available in the stable version.
WhatsApp will offer two widgets («Chats» and «Calls») that can be placed on the smartphone's desktop. In them, messenger users will be able to pin from two to four contacts depending on the chosen widget size («2x2» or «2x4»). In «Chats,» it will be possible to choose to show recent, favorite, or pinned correspondence. The «Calls» widget will be able to display contacts of friends, relatives, or those who the user most often called.
