The Steam client has acquired another important feature — the ability to record videos. The functionality is available to all users.
Now players can create and edit clips, mark the most interesting moments, and share them with friends. Steam also supports background recording and automatically saves the last 120 minutes to storage, without exceeding free space limits.
The improved timeline looks the most interesting, where significant events are automatically marked. For example, in a Dota 2 video, you can immediately see when Roshan was killed.
Edited videos can be transferred between devices: for example, from a computer to a phone or from Steam Deck to a computer.
Valve noted that video recording works in all games where there is a Steam overlay.
